    OBrien is a great leaker.

I don't like either of them but I find it hard to believe that OBrien was stripped of personnel decision making power after winning the division last year.

    just playing along here,

Would love to see shanahan design a play where the full back throws a pass from inside the seven ala chris brown. kidding aside, we had the best offense when he was O.C. Seems like a long time ago.

Mcdaniels would be my guy just because we could keep romeo and promote the rest of the "hoody' coaching tree. Let Vrabel be the O.C. He can't do worse than Godsey. Shoot Vrabel would actually think of using the TEs much sooner. Izzo can be the new linebackers coach. Bring in one of belichicks sons as the new tech guy/ special teams coach. Need a coaching job for willfork too. he hungry!

Have you seen Obrien on the sidelines? he's constantly shouting at anyone who happens to be standing there

McDaniel's stint as HC in Denver had even more QB and management drama than we are having now

Crappy QB(tebow) with a stud WR(Thomas) is what he had in Denver; seems similar to us :p

I would absolutely hate to see this defensive staff let go if OB was fired, that's why I'm against it. Not many good HCs are going to want to be forced to inherit a staff, though maybe RAC, Vrabel and co. would be an exception.

Just bring in a new OC

true but I hate losing romeo and vrabel. It's one thing of the coaching change that gets forgotten. the new guy will want his own guys. With vance or Kyle, we might see some familiar faces back, uncle rico!

It's surreal that we're even talking about this on the eve of hosting a playoff game. Only the Texans....

Goes back to what I said in another thread. This is the strangest football season I've ever experienced. In my 30+ years of following professional football in this city, I can't recall ever being this disinterested in a playoff game. It's bizarre, frankly.

I was pretty excited until the concussion.

And even still, we are favored. Sneak by then get Savage back in there

Is it not possible to bring in an OC as the HC and keep the defensive coaching staff as is?

Complete with the bizarre overpayment for a crappy QB (fist round pick!)

McNair isn't stupid, he knows he has a #1 defense, he knows what he has in Rac and his assistants and I think just like when we added Wade and kept Kubes if B'OB is let go then I think they'll get an offensive guy to bring in his offensive staff and Rac will be retained. But I think Vrabel is gone after this season regardless, he's too damn good, he's gonna be a DC somewhere

What if they just made RAC head coach, Vrabel the DC, and hired a good OC? We would just be going from an offense-oriented HC with a very good DC to a very good defense-oriented HC with (hopefully) a good OC. I understand the sentiment of not wanting to lose BOB. but what exactly is he good at? The offense has been dreadful and his game management has been atrocious at times.

The reason to keep BOB is to not rock the boat because right now things are pretty good and trending in the right direction. You fire BOB and you could lost RAC and Vrabel setting the whole team back. It would be straight up foolish to fire BOB or even allow him to leave.

But you have no idea if he really is the guy. You just gave up a crap ton of money to get Osweiler, who you hoped would be the guy but isn't. Now, if you give up a 1sth and 3rd and Garoppolo isn't as advertised, then you've just hamstringed your cap and crippled your draft in two consecutive years chasing QBs who aren't the franchise player you're looking for.

If it works out, great. If it doesn't, we're ****ed.

The other obvious ramification is that we really need to go OLine in the first round. Give that up to get Jimmy G and maybe he's good, but maybe he's also running for his life because we can't adequately plug all the OL holes.

1st and 3rd is a lot for a guy who was picked at the bottom of the second round.

The good news is, if it doesn't work, you can blame it on Smith while pretending you never supported the idea and if it works, you can credit the coaching staff and tout how you knew it was the thing to do all along.

They had 3 QBs in Denver. Not exactly the same as what we've had here. They common thread is that he had crap QB's (Orton, Simms, Tebow) there and we have crap QB's here.

Well he started with Cutler. Then it leaked that he was trying to trade Cutler which pissed off Cutler and all they could get was Orton. But they at least got several picks out of it. We won't for Brock.

Then they drafted Tim freaking Tebow in the FIRST round because of his interview.

There was also tons of drama with Brandon Marshall
