Am i the only one that wouldnt trade anyone in the rotation right now. Even corey brewer (omg) cant believe i said that, but im a hey i"ts good so dont break it" person. Kj i would trade....cause we winning inspite of brewer so maybe with the pressure off he will just start playing better and add another dimension to the team. I really like the fact everybody knows their role.
Very simple. Atlanta could agree to a trade not involving Millsap that causes him to be released. Remember this, no team has the cap space to pick him up off the waiver wire. So if he's released he's going to clear waivers. So here's an example of just one deal. Houston trades brewer, McDaniels, Ennis, and Harrell to Atl for Korver and Khump. Atl releases Millsap and Ryan Kelly to have the 2 extra roster slots to make 2 for 4 deal work. We now have cap space and two roster spots. We sign Patton II to a 3-year partially guaranteed deal and sign Millsap to a small guaranteed deal for a playoff run.
So you are saying the Rockets Massively upgrade their bench for nothing? The Lineup would be: P.G. - Harden / Gordon / Payton S.G. - Beverley / Korver S.F. - Ariza / Dekker P.F. - Anderson / Millsap / Wiltjer ...C - Capela / Nene / Humphries You're smokin dope...... And I like it!! Good luck pulling off the steal of the decade. The steal of the century was the Harden trade.
Na harden ain't **** without a guy like Rubio to run the offense for him, that would be the steal of all time
we are a team shooting the most 3s in basketball history, having GREAT SHOOTERS is a must, is the biggest and the most specific need of them all The only reason we dont think of this in this way is a habit, because FO didnt think this way through the years and has made only half ass effort at getting sghooters. And this was the greatest 'mistake' of morey through the years. Ok perhaps that was an experiment , can you beat the system with a perfect system applied by average players. It seems it cant be done. You need great personel for system to work All this talk about chemistry and dantoni coaching skills, harden leadership, team playing with determination, and whatever would be for naught, Harden wouldnt be MVP candidate and situation would be even worse now than last year were it not for the SHOOTERS who UNLOCK THE BEARD. Yes this year it is a different team indeed.
Ummmm no. I gave an example of a trade and release using our roster because I'm familiar with it. It's possible that another team may execute such a trade with Atlanta with Millsap being released. As far as our team, ATL could possibly be interested in a Millsap/Anderson swap. I don't think we are interested in that though.
Not that I expect that trade to happen but 2nd rounders are nothing to worry about moving. Les has given DM green light to buy picks if necessary and you always seem to accumulate some through other teams in prior trades.
With a 2nd round pick your just hoping in a few years he can become half the player korver still is at 35. Odds of him becoming a player similar to "old korver" is likely less than 5%. Conversely, both 2nd rd picks probably do not amount for half the production as korvers worse year. Put it this way. Would you trade Nick Johnson and Joey Dorsey for korver? Picks are a commodity, but often overvalued by fans because of the "potential unknown" Exactly even more so to the point. Morey has been able to use some if not all of the 3mill per year allowed to acquire extra 2nd rd picks. Albeit, I don't know how much that changes if any under the new cba landscape.
Don't see the trade fit. He's not going to come cheap, we can't offer a starting spot and he can walk this summer. Also, the mechanics of the trade would be complicated given the contracts involved.
I understand your point and I appreciate the unknown issue you refer to but isn't it a bit unfair to chose the worst drafts we had and use that as a baseline for our 2nd round picks? Since we are talking about 2 picks, the combined production of Harrell and Dekker on their second year is comparable to KK's best years - not half. Second, Korver himself was a second rounder - 51st pick. If we still had Covvington in our team and traded him for Kyle, ok to add 2 second rounders if all were getting back is another 3pt specialist and nothing more? Third, I don't know how accurate your 5% probability is but I am presuming that is only for one player. If we get 2 chances to pick and get it right, it should increase our chances by quite a bit especially if we consider Morey is the one evaluating. Lastly, take Zhou as an example, there are a few experts predicting that he might be the steal of the draft as he has Porzingis potential . Korver is an amazing shooter and has decent D but give Wiltjer the same shots that KK will get from our system , accuracy should be close. Any other GM, I would agree with you but it's he nerd who we are talking about.
As fair as I cited 2 bad players (although not the worse because both actually saw time on the court) it's unfair to mention 2 of the better players, b3sides the fact that dekker was a 2st rd pick and Harrell was projected as 1st and was the 2nd pick in the 2nd rd. None the less draymond, millsap, parsons are all 2nd rd picks. But the likelihood of landing those is severely limited. Morey is great at finding gems, but every team has scouts and all the cream talent goes at the top. I think morey himself has said something along the lines of, you just want a 2nd rd pick to make the roster and compete for a bench spot. "Potential" is a dangerous word. It's also a valuable word when selling a product. The potential of zhou qi the "prospect" is likely better then the "player". Furthermore, say for instance we are able to land a korver level player in the second round. It's going to take 2-3 years to start producing and contributing. And by the new his contract is probably coming up and morey trades role players away. So a half season rental of a productive, veteran savvy, all-time elite shooter like korver I would absolutely trade two 2nd rd picks if push come to shove.
3pt shooting is basically all that we do, you need as much and as good 3pt shoopters as you can get particularly because the ones you have are of fragile health and its the one thing that IMPROVES HARDEN I also believe he could do it but this is a big big assumption and very questionable, and until he does it in NBA games i would get Korver if i had chance because what if we pass on Korver and Kyle cant do it or cant do it in PO under pressure... Dwight Howard could hit FTs in practice well its the games where he had the problem of doing it
