Great post craguin. I can see the Suns looking for Payton and not Vuc in this scenario though, to pair him with Booker and their other young guys...maybe trading away Bledsoe too.

Tucker is also another player i would like to get (cyberx said we were after him a year ago), more than Korver tbh...even though yeah, he's also an expiring so i don't see him staying here after this summer anyway...

Yes RocketsTerp. I like your trade targets. I'm not so high on the trade presented. I'm not a fan of Sefolosha.
Players like Sefolosha/Ray Allen/Andre Roberson can defend; but are left unguarded on the perimeter.......
much like our non defensive Brewer. Having said that I would take that deal as a last resort....over Brewer.
    Sefolosha is 31.7% from 3; Brewer shoots 23.2% from 3. Sefolosha 16/17 (DRtg 102), 15/16 (DRtg 100),
    14/15 (DRtg 100). Brewer current DRtg 109.

    Ariza: 33.8 (mins), 12.4 (pts), .376 (3P%), 5.2 (rbs), 118 (ORtg), 105 (DRtg).

    Dekker: 18.9 (mins), 6.7 (pts), .318 (3P%), 4.8 (rbs), 115 (ORtg), 108 (DRtg).
    Brewer: 14.6 (mins), 4.0 (pts), .232 (3P%), 1.8 (rbs), 104 (ORtg), 109 (DRtg).

The elephant in the room is that now, Dekker is struggling. SG/SF combo backup needs to be address.

Sorry. Tony Allen (Memphis). Opps. Throw Rondo in there as well.

Ray Allen left unguarded? Or did you mean Allan Ray lol. If we acquired Korver and Sefolasha we could almost use them in an offense/defense situational platoon off the bench. In the offseason we could try to find a more complete replacement since they both will be free agents.

Glad that you clarified. Coaches that left Ray Allen open were looking for jobs.

Sam contributes in other ways. His rebounding, activity and off ball movement have made positive impact when his 3 ball is not going down. Also, he is still really good at finishing around the rim so he is not a liability on offense.
Not worried about him at all.

I just used Ray Allen's name in post #732....was still on the brain. I predicted Wiltjer would make the final
15 man roster (on another forum). I got blasted for that. My thinking was 6'10 Ryno on the court w/6'10"
Wiltjer would be near impossible to defend in a close game on the offensive possession. Both 4 feet
beyond the 3-point line. Situational substitution. To this point Big D' hasn't done it yet. I'm not sure
he would do the same then for defensive substitutions. Maybe?

[IMG] There are currently 4 top ten 3 point shooter in houston. How about trade one more to the team to improve the offesive power of our bench? Now we have harden, gordon, ariza, anderson. Can we invite ray allen or Reggie miller to join?

Teams will start getting a scouting report and begin laying back and waiting for him to drive. His 3P% is
dropping like a rock. He has definitely hit the wall.

Ray Allen said recently the Rockets offered him a great contract in 14/15. It took everything to turn it down.
Would be nice to have a Ray Allen type.

I think those old stars and 3 points shooters will interest to join and see whether they can use 3 points to win the champion

Ennis, Brown, KJ, and Wiltjer don't belong on this roster period.

    KJ for Thabo Sefolosha
    Brewer for Korver

Those trades work and would get us closer to title contender.

We had a 40yr old Ray Allen type - Jason Terry. I'd rather have a slightly younger model that can still run the floor like Korver.

Why don't we try to get Porzingas for Harrell while we are at it?

Ugh. What is the point of having sneaky athletic players if they can't shoot?

No, not really "period" imo. Wiltjer definitely belongs on this roster. Maybe not other rosters, but here he is certainly worth a roster spot. A young guy who can shoot lights out from the 3 and if he wasn't a hard worker I don't think he would have made it onto the roster.

Rosters aren't really made up of 15 rotation players. This is what we thought of Capela when he insisted to come over and we wanted to stash him. Then he looked ok in summer league. Looked ok in NBDL and people were saying he didn't belong on the roster and should've stayed in Europe for a year or two. Then he played in the playoffs as a rookie vs the Warriors and he did REALLY well for his age/experience.

Wiltjer may not have been an NBA player to start the season, but he will be in the not so distant future, probably next season. Being on an NBA team that plans to develop him and values his elite skill is integral to his developmet. Strength and conditioning with NBA coaches will help him a lot, playing up tempo in the D-League will get him prepared to shoot faster, and repetition in practices with the Rockets will make a massive impact to his understanding of what he needs to be doing on the court. I predict he might actually be used late season as a specialist.

I would much rather keep him on the roster over Ennis, Brown, KJ or even Brewer right now. He could be a super cheap, super solid bench player in a year. Very worth it given the direction the league is going with how much you can pay your own star players. It's going to be more important than ever to have productive players on low salaries.
