AND they added Durant. In case someone was thinking about finals deep DEEP inside of your subconscious. Don't. We're a fun regular season team, as some predicted before season. But Warriors are gonna eat us alive if we're lucky enough to not be eliminated by Spurs or Clippers, or Grizzlies before we meet Warriors. This antijinx should fix the jinx this thread is.
Jinx or no jinx this is impressive stuff. My realistic expectations (baring in mind expected injuries and Beverly to miss the start of the season) was 47 wins. And people thought I was way optimistic. This season is even better than 2014 that was amazingly fun.
True statement, but remember that D'Antoni has a track record of tremendous regular seasons and an inability to get his teams to win the biggest playoff games. I realize the Horry/Nash incident may have cost the Suns a Finals appearance and possibly even a Championship, but still. I think we can all enjoy this beautiful show on the hardwood every night, but we also want success when it counts the most. And I think many Rockets fans saw that as MDA's biggest weakness as a coach.
Personally, I don't see the Grizzlies beating us 4 times in a series if both teams are healthy. And Houston would have HCA. The Clippers? Harden, Gordon, and Bev would be too much to handle on the perimeter and Blake Griffin tends to shrink in the biggest games. We would likely have home court and I think even if it went 7 games, the Rockets have the edge. Regular season games are NOTHING compared to playoff games in Toyota Center...our fans really show up for big playoff games. I think if we face GS in the WCSF or WCF, it will go 6 or 7. Would we likely lose in the end? Yeah. But I'd give us at least a 25% chance to upset them. It wouldn't be an embarrassment like much of the previous two series have been. This team is too multidimensional, has the ability to keep pace with GS offensively, and has a much better coach in terms of in game adjustments and strategy that the previous two playoff match ups. Not to mention, the Rockets have consistently defended home court so far in the season...I think the Warriors would be lucky to go 1-2 in Toyota Center in a series. That means Houston would only have to steal one game in Oracle and suddenly it's game 7, where anything could happen.
Correct. That was the best regular season record in franchise history. They could've won 60 that year if they really wanted. The last two games were at Dallas(who went 13-69 that season) and home vs Denver(who finished 42-40). Rudy decided to rest a bunch of guys though since we'd clinched the 2nd best record in the league and had no chance of catching the 63-19 Sonics. I was at that Denver game and I think Dream did suit up, but Rudy used it primarily as an audition for playoff spots. Chris Jent was lighting it up from outside which earned him a spot on the roster.
I forgot about him resting players. I do want 60 though. That is a milestone that many teams have hit that we haven't. Hell I think Half the league has won 60 at some point but we haven't. It's time. Of course one could argue that being the only 6th seeded team to hoist an obrien while going 9-3 with 7 straight on the road is more impressive. Either way this season seems to be shaping up to be something special. Could you imagine if D12 would have removed his head from his rectum and just played a role (Capella) with the squad and coach we have now how good we would be?
