Gonna throw this out there as possibly the cheapest way to acquire a player that could have ridiculous potential paired with Harden....Jahlil Okafor. Dude is an offensive savant despite his old school game and he has underrated mobility. He would be dominant on this team if paired with defensive big man.
Okafor would clog paint instead of create more spacing, which is what has been so successful for Rockets this season. And if Okafor requires a defensive PF then paint is clogged even more. Instead of Okafor AND a defensive big, why not just add ONE player, rim protecting big?
I heard we like Koufos and Atlanta just put all of their guys on the block... Something like this doesn't seem too far fetched to me. Might have to throw some picks in there though. We get: -Kosta Koufos -Kyle Korver Atlanta gets: -Rudy Gay -Ben McLemore -K.J. McDaniels Sacramento gets: -Paul Millsap -Corey Brewer We add another deadly 3-point weapon and grab a solid backup center if Capela is out for an extended period. Gives us the opportunity to match up big (if we have to) and run an even nastier small-ball lineup with Korver creating so much more space than Brewer. Atlanta gets something for Millsap who is likely to leave in FA anyway. Rudy Gay is a great consolation prize and the athletic ability and potential of both McDaniels and McLemore is worth testing out. They're hunting for draft picks anyway at this point. (Plus I feel like KJ was the closest to Dwight of anyone on the team and you know how he likes to keep his nose involved with the front office!) Sacramento does what it always does. Trades for an undersized power forward with virtuoso scoring abilities. I actually could see them making this move thinking it frees up playing time for their younger guys (Cauley-Stein and Richardson). Who knows? Millsap is pretty good, maybe he could be the presence Cousins needs to mellow out and focus. Looks like a win-win-win to me!
Another d howard? If all the 3 point shooter are kept here, it can have a try. He should come to play the center position
Without giving up much we need to add a vet to the backcourt in case of a Bev or Gordon injury (i dont trust Ennis) a swing man to upgrade 2nd unit (replace Brewer) and we need to add one more big man in case of an injury (Capela or Nene) I give you Korver, Foye and Hamilton. Dekker + Ennis + 1st for Korver and KJ + Onuaku + Gentile or 2nd rounder for Hamilton and Foye. Harden / Foye Bev / Gordon Ariza / Korver Anderson / Harrell Capela / Hamilton / Nene I'd rather we get Koufus as a rim protector insurance, but then we wouldn't deal with Brooklyn and would have to find a different vet small guard. Also, I just would like to see a line up of Harden / Gordon / Korver / Anderson / Hamilton. Yeah they wouldn't defend well, but ideal offense for Harden. These are just minor tweaks to the roster that would marginally improve us in several spots without losing anything except a first which is lottery protected and gentile who I'm sure Brooklyn would love to have seeing that they can't get anyone with picks.
I like it, personally. Id take him over Crabbe or Bazemore, both of whom I believe we aimed for this off season. He's a great defender and he always plays us very tough. Portland lacks defense in a bad way, if I'm Portland I shouldn't do that because of what he brings. But whatever Portland can burn in Hell, make it happen Morley.
Exactly. Would love Aminu on Rockets but Blazers love the guy. And for good reason, he's their best perimeter defender and one of their best rebounders. Blazers have not been nearly as efficient when Aminu is out of lineup.
Why would we give up dekker and a first rounder for a washed up 36 year old man who is literally only good at one thing (3pt shooting)? This would be the worst trade this season for sure
Houston gets Paul millsap. Hawks gets kj macdaniels, brewer, bobby brown and kylite and onukur, additional money plus first and second draft picks
Without a true bigman center Anderson will be on this team for smallball. Therefore, he will not be included in any trade.
Can I get an explanation as to why we're so obsessed with getting Kyle Korver here? The team is shooting the 3 EXCEPTIONALLY well with Eric Gordon coming off the bench. Is the thought process truly, "yea, but what if we shot more threes?" Can we all agree that Korver playing defense next to Harden doesn't feel great? What is the appeal?
Let me ask you something D-Rock. Would you give Larry Sanders a chance? If on meds? http://sports.yahoo.com/news/larry-sanders-to--look-into-coming-back--to-nba-151157576.html
That is the thought. We are breaking the record for attempts and makes. Replacing brewers protection with korvers is an upgrade. He is perfect for this system. He would be our best off ball player. He would add the wrinkle of constantly running around off screens away from the ball. He's older, which is perfect because it makes him cheap, especially since he's expiring. He's a veteran and should fit perfectly into our locker room and create no chemistry worries. He's also an average defender who puts in the effort. If your not willing to pay kj/gentile/2nd for korver your just being silly.
Definetely willing to pay KJ, 2nd rounder and so on but someone suggested Dekker for Korver and i was like wtf?!
That's just nonsense to predict that to be the price. Only way someone overpays is out of desperation, and there just isn't that many desperate teams. Only team I could see getting desperate enough is the clippers. But they have no youth or picks. Toronto maybe? But I'm not sure
