Wow... I wasn't surprised to see him take the minimum after his situation with Hou's weird post physical departure. However I'm shocked to see him go that route with such a poor team without a clear role. Also luckily we get to debate Jones or DMo once again so Bobby and Hollic will have a field day with that one again. But it's shocking to me in a half season of essentially showcasing for free agency that he wouldn't latch onto a contender. Golden state is playing ZaZa big minutes for crying out loud (no disrespect to ZaZa). Very very surprised about this and was hoping to see him play meaningful minutes with a contender to re-earn another go in free agency this Summer. He will have to do some special things in NOLA to get attention this Summer for sure.
Of course that doesn't sound plausible! We traded DMo, not Jones. You eventually threw a tantrum when that happened. It's related to this situation in that you paint the Rockets in the worst possible light in regards to DMo and come up with inane, unsubstantiated theories about why DMo isn't playing or isn't getting paid what you think he should. Your ability to "read between the lines" is always in doubt, more so when it comes to a player you have so personally advocated for.
I'm surprised that the Raptors weren't interested at all, I thought that would be the perfect fit with minutes and playing for a good team
That is what is so surprising Tjones and Anthony Davis are buds from college, I don't see DMo making an impact unless he has been told he will be the starting Center, if that is the case, then sure. DD
I value his skillset, I think the Rockets would be a lot better with him....especially in regards to depth and would offer a ton more to this team. But it is over, will watch him in New Orleans and wish him the best. DD
and depending on matchups/injuries, he also has to contend with asik/cunningham/ajinca for minutes as well. can't believe this was the best option for him out there
Which is also crazy and must tell us something about how the NBA as a whole flags players. If DMo is viewed as even a health risk but talented and cheap ... I still think he's going to be sought after with contenders needing quality min players. Obviously IMO there is something more flagging DMo than just health risks. You can only speculate so much. If I HAD TO speculate now I'd say that teams don't want to deal with BJ right now and him & DMo are building a reputation as being difficult to deal with. Either that or BJ/DMo informed teams that will offer vet min that they would only be considered if they were serious about giving him a big offer next summer... which would be stupid on DMo's part. That kind of limitation will get you only teams like the Pelicans giving an offer. BJ is trying real hard to get DMo out of the league asap.
How ironic, ended up getting less than TJones and from the same team no less. I remember a few years ago when TJones was the starter and DMo was playing sparingly as a backup, I predicted that TJones would get a larger contract than DMo. Who would have thought that even after TJones's injuries and him falling off a cliff, with DMo's emergence that that prediction would somehow hold true lmao. I'm sure he'll land a decent contract if he's healthy and produces this season, but man he and his agent really screwed the pooch on this one.
