    Nope.

The reason why their TOV% was in the same territory as Hardens was because they were distributors who took fewer shots and therefore used less possessions that Harden did. All TOV% gives you id's turnovers in relation to a players shots. That's why it's useless. If Magic and Isaiah shoot the ball as often as James does then their TOV% would have been around 12-15.

Now let's delve into your 28/12 statement producing 56 points and consider net turnovers in that equation as well. Because right now you're not considering the impact of James' turnovers and their cost to the team. All you are looking at here is the good stuff.

Do this calculation for all 3 players you mentioned: turnovers - steals - 1/2 offensive rebounds.

What are those numbers per game for those players in their championship seasons?

Why don't you just post your secret knowledge? We know you're probably wrong, so prove it to us. You imply you've done the calculations so post them.

    Your pedantic neo-cryptic-wannabe-insiderism is insufferable.

Holic is a troll who wants attention. Rox are rolling behind a HOF coach and one of the top players in the league. Let him worry about the stats, I'm going to enjoy the entertainment the Rox are providing. It's a really great product that's improving every game and as last year's playoffs proved (with 2 teams blowing 3-1 leads) anything can happen in the playoffs.

Putting my observation into question for no reason? See this is what brings down the effectiveness of this board...

So one of the moderators needs to have a SERIOUS STERN TALK with you about your posting....Need someone to carry that IN-Your-FACE presense, (to compensate for my repressed lack of command in REAL life), cuz thats what people in "control" do like a boss!

Someone's gotta set No Carin' Haren straight!

Yeah, but did Harden have any turnovers? Has coach given Harden a stern talking to yet? Why is he such a lazier partier who can't he be as thin as Stephen Curry? Why isn't he first team defense? Do you think we might be able to get Klay Thompson for Harden if we throw in Capela and a couple of picks?
Can we at least get some decent offers for some young players and picks for him ? Have any of the poor souls who liked to call him James Mcfrauden been able to get harden occasionally?

LOL Holic keeps making **** up in this thread and keeps readjusting his arguments to seem correct.

95 pts total and you still say Harden's 8 turnovers will be the reason the Rox dont win a ring? b**** pls. Has there ever been a person before who scored 50 pts, 17 assists, 16 rebs? No? So why do you keep using historical stats to judge Harden there hasnt been anyone like him in history? Who the F cares if Harden averages 1-2 more turnovers than Parker, Irving, Curry etc?

You still think even with the turnovers Harden is a top 2 NBA player right? So if Harden is still top 2 its not his fault anymore, its the fault of the entire team for not having enough talent if they dont win.

The man plays 42 minutes and has zero blocks and zero steals. Pathetic. Talk needs to happen soon.

Sounds like you're calling a championship this season.

Hardens performance last night was awesome. No doubt about it. And.....his turnovers really didn't matter because the rest of the team had very little.

But if you think that style of play will translate to the playoffs then you've got a lot to learn. It won't. And Harden will turn it over and the playoff defenses will pressure the other players into miscues. Yes we'll win some playoff games. And we might win a series or two. But we're going to get chopped at some point and it will be because a team came down the floor and consistently bludgeoned our defense, then they glued down Harden and turned us over and over and over and over.

Sounds like you dont agree that the Rockets and Harden have wildly outperformed your predictions for them despite his record-breaking TOs. And you just cant wrap your head around why he is breaking all rules of PG play wrt TO numbers and success

So you are left resorting to "well, GSW and CLE and SAS can still beat us"

The reason they can is because they have more stars. If/when we win a title, it will likely be with another Star wing or Big and Harden will still be turning it over more than John Stockton, proving there is a Harden way that wins

I agree with basketballholic to some degree. Our offensive attack is highly centralized when Harden is on the floor, and that's a vulnerability in a playoff series when you're facing the same, good defensive teams over and over again. Also, when you rely on 3-point shooting as much as the Rockets do, they will be susceptible to long droughts. How does that affect them psychologically is they lose a game or two, especially if they lose those games when holding a big lead?

I feel we're a bit too lackadaisical with the passing and free-wheeling with the 3-point shooting, and I'm not very comfortable with how that style of play translates from regular season to playoff basketball. I'm not writing off the team by any means -- it's way too early to do that. They just need to keep improving and not get too high on themselves.
