this show is good, surprisingly even better than the HBO documentary (which was also good) Remini is a badass, and she was smart to focus on personal stories for her show. The format where she goes to their homes and talks to them works well. People have a right to be nutty and waste their money, but this show reveals things that could rise to the level of illegal violence/fraud.
i wasn't going to post about, but since you've already mentioned it. it was the first thing i noticed without clicking on the video.
Yes, Scientology crosses the line into criminal activity. You should watch the disturbing documentary Going Clear. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4257858/
The HBO documentary put me to sleep in the first half hour. Remini's show is more personal and that makes it more interesting. Not gonna lie, her face does look paralyzed and it's a bit distracting.
Hate to be political in the Hangout, but it seems Obama is the one burning as many foreign relations as possible right now.
It's depressing and sad to hear the stories if true of individuals who have lost time that they will never get back. Forget loss of money and family for a second. You devote decades of your life - usually starting in your teens - for a cause that you realize is not worth it.
I missed it when it started airing so I'm catching up now. I watched some of the "Ask Me Anything" episode last night. That woman where the Scientologists broke into her house, stole her stationary, and forged a bomb threat that almost got her sent to federal prison? WTF!?!?!? I know Scientologists are brainwashed into believing that anything done to protect the church is justified, but how do you not see how morally wrong that is?
The same way you can be convinced to do anything. Give them all your money, abandon your family, marry off your kids to the SeaOrg. They use every persuasion trick in the book.
