I'm tired of trying to ignore how bad Nene is playing at the moment. We look like championship contenders when Harrell checks in and anything but with Nene. I know it's a get what you pay for thing with Nene and consequently I'm not sure why I'm quite this disappointed with his output. In a way, given how low the hurdle should be for competent play at effectively a 1 yr vet min deal, it's a testament to how bad he looks right now in all aspects of the game that I can be this underwhelmed by a guy in whom we've allocated a mere 1% of our cap on a 1 yr deal. So yeah, I'm up for getting literally anything. Some tree bark might be more effective in the paint right now. Tina Thompson? Rebecca Lobo? Tree Williams? Eric Riley? Beuhler? Buehler? (no no, I'm serious, I'd swap Nene for Mathew Broderick and throw in a protected 2nd (top 10 protected) If I had to)
I don't see any way the Rockets could trade for both Koufos and Gay without giving up Ariza or Beverley. I'd be surprised if the Rockets did that. Maybe if Gay agreed to make the final year of his contract a team option instead of player option, then maybe the Rockets include Ariza.
Scouting Report on Tree Bark: Plays stiff, doesn't shoot FT's well, Swings limbs uncontrollably, No 3-pointers, Tends to stay outside, All-around game a little "rough" around the edges.
Plays stiff: Sounds like he can offer some rim protection and/or perhaps he brings a Viagra or Cialis sponsorship with him? Sounds like Les would be on board. Doesn't Shoot FT's well: Coin-flip with Nene on this one. No 3's: See FT comment above. Swings limbs uncontrollably: + sounds like he creates some steals and blocks / - propensity to get in foul trouble Nothing in there sounds like tree bark wouldn't provide an upgrade over Nene.
How is DMo a better big man than KK? The dude isn't even being offered a contract by other NBA teams clearly there's something wrong with him. You aren't an insider how can you assume DMo would've been better for this team when no other team has even bothered to sign him and give him a roster spot on their team? The failure would be signing when he has something wrong and we'd be paying him to sit on the bench. When that happens bet you're gonna be the first one to post about what a failure DM is for not doing his homework and signing an injured player.
I'm not a doofus for Koufas. When Capella comes back there wouldn't be enough big man minutes to go around. We have versatile 3s that can play the 4 and I honestly don't want to see Brewer go. His shot has been broken for almost a season and a half now, but his energy level and the fact that other teams have to worry about him in transition makes it easier for us to get rebounds and also contributes to the other team getting weak legs.
Basically he sounds like a Big Body What does he bring that Chinanu Onuaku doesn't? They both seem very raw and unpolished Rocket River
rim protection and rebounding is an issue even with capela healthy. koufos could be a last resort move for moving brewer's contract. bogut would be the jackpot but with the form brewer is in maybe the best return is a guy who got busted for using peds.
Last resort is just letting brewers contract expire. If it's valuable to everyone else's cap it's valuable to the rockets too. I'd much rather see Onuaku play than this deal jamming up the works.
The Rockets should not trade a defensive minded player, if Rudy Gay is in any trade proposal. With that said, would you be okay adding Ryan Anderson into the mix while targeting one of the Kings younger players. The trade below works with the salary cap. Houston - Ryan Anderson Corey Brewer Sacramento - Rudy Gay Kosta Koufos Skal Labissiere
