I'm not a Brewer fan, but he has been playing better in the last few games. He's a hustler that forces teams to account for him running the court and is not a distraction at practice or the locker room, and that's probably why coaches in general like him. We don't appreciate his veteran presence, but some team just might need them some Brewsky to help their team culture. I wouldn't move anyone right now unless we're getting someone that will fit in with the current team culture and solidify are depth. With that said, I do think we need another big man. It's been obvious that Clint and Montrez struggle with bigger centers. I love Nene, but it would be very beneficial to have a 7ft center who has some bulk and can play defense when we play the teams that feature those guys and when we get in the play-offs. KK or Nurkic would be ideal for that role, with Nurkic being someone that could grow with our other young guys. Having said that, I'm pretty sure Brewer is not the key piece in a trade for either of those guys, which could mean a third team would have to be in play. While some want to replace Brewer, I'm more worried about C and PG. If Bev goes out for an extended period of time, our three guard rotation Tyler Ennis is not very good. Like others have said, Morey's good at setting a fire in SAC while he's working the lines in places like DET (e.g. Aron Baynes and Beno Udrih for Brewer plus) or IND (Rodney Stuckey and Kevin Seraphin for Brewer plus). We're roughly 40% through the regular season and have already had two starters go down for long periods of time. The Rockets are playing great under MDA, a rejuvenated Harden and a solid team. We don't need another star, but several smart roster tweaks could give us that extra we need to get through SA, GS and CLE, GS.
Ennis & Bobby Brown are "shopped" around..Brewer dangled. Don't make the toilet bigger than it is. Lol
It is sometimes hard to see Brewer's value, but I see him as playing the "poor man's Ariza" role for the second unit. With Gordon and Dekker taking most of the shots, he mostly concentrates on defense and passing, and, like you said, he brings energy and veteran presence. His three point average could be improved, but he's not in there to take a bunch of shots. He is a serviceable backup wing IMO.
i fear nurkic will yield a big contract in FA. don't think we should trade a first in Is that a reliable source??
If we get Gay without giving up Ariza, Gordon, Dekker or Monstrez do it . Man Having Gordon, Gay, Dekker and Monstrez off the Bench is spectacular. Small ball lineup of Harden, Gordon, Ariza, Gay and Anderson. Holly Cowbanga
