This is the part that I think you are incorrect. The "talking" with the league was BEFORE DMo took the physical, not "next thing we hear." In fact, I don't think we know exactly when DMo took the physical. It was after the release was announced that we knew he had taken it. But by then, the league had been talking with the Rockets for several days already. My impression was that it was not the Rockets who asked the league about these issues. It was the league coming to talk to the Rockets after the second contract was allegedly agreed by the Rockets and DMo. I could be wrong because I am doing this from memory. No time to dig out the actually reports and the chronology.
Entirely your opinion, not a fact. League did OKC/Westbrook a favor and made him eligible for new super max that he should not be eligible for next summer. Did they announce it? No. League doesn't announce controversial/uncomfortable **** they aren't super keen on explaining in details. League told Rockets to back off from DMo, because it's the most logical explanation, you can't find a better one.
repeatedly posting opinions as facts here should lead to loss of posting privileges unemployment office?
If I was the NBA, I would probably re-investigate on what basis the Rockets failed DMo's physical. I mean, we traded the guy away to the Pistons who failed his physical. Then we played him to finish off the season. There was no evidence of further injury when we played him or during the offseason. The Nets checked him out and passed his physical and was willing to sign him to a contract (that had probably taken into consideration of long-term deterioration of this back with the team options). The Rockets matched. Then failed his physical. But in between this and when the Pistons failed DMo's physical, the Rockets actually played the guy and the Nets passed his physical. DMo and BJ are probably negotiating with the NBA based on this, and perhaps are seeking a return to the Nets who had actually passed his physical.
You can bet the Rockets would only fail him if there was a clear and evident reason to do so. No way they want to get their hands dirty if he was just out of shape with all that's happened to D-Mo you can bet he would take legal action against the Rockets if the reason was not clear cut and evident.
He did not fail the physical - he took it Friday - reported for work on Saturday and was told to go home. Nowhere EVER did anyone report he failed it. There was NO official "Slap" they just disallowed the new contract, and forced the letter and intent of the law, making him an UFA. There is no WAY Morey would let an asset walk for nothing - unless he was forced to do it, this was the compromise between him and the league - that is why they stepped in...... The end result hurt all parties involved. 1. Rockets lost a valuable asset (that would be useful right now) 2. DMo lost out on a reasonably good contract. 3. Brooklyn lost out on someone they wanted to sign. League moves behind the scenes, and makes a "Basketball reasons" decision. DD
Its just mind blogging the way of you trying to ignore all the facts even in this current situation. Help is NOT on the way, you have to open your mind and eyes to accept the facts.
Actually, DaDakota is right.* There was never any official word that DMo failed the physical. In fact, the only physical he officially failed was the Pistons' physical last year. This situation was obviously never about the physical, and anyone who thinks that was the reason DMo's not with the team simply isn't paying very close attention. * There's a first time for everything.
Actually Woj reported that Houston had a problem with DMo's physical and that the Rockets were gathering medical information before they would activate him.
Value is determined by what others are willing to pay . When the Rockets held his rights, others were willing to pay nothing. Now, nobody holds his rights, and others are willing to pay: nothing. Even the lowly Lakers aren't even willing to toss him a contract because he "would mess up their rotation" of a team that is currently headed nowhere (LOL, thanks BJ Shelburne). This is what happens when you fail multiple physicals and are publicly declared worthless by NBA franchises who rescind trades.
Woj's tweet: "Sources: Houston still gathering medical info on Donatas Motiejunas' physical exam. Rockets not ready to activate him." Doesn't say that he failed it or that they had a problem with it. Could very well be that they had already been contacted by the league about the contract. At this point, though, nobody really knows what happened (except a very few people). Saying that he definitely failed his physical is a huge leap for anyone to make.
The ONLY information we have from anyone reputable repeats things like the Woj tweet; a problem with the medicals. Whether that's true or not isn't clear because no one has come out and said "yes those posts were true." This is all I've ever said. DD is the one claiming that his version of what happened is "air tight" and supported by "evidence." It's preposterous. Anyone saying the league shut the deal down is putting forth their own hypothesis that is support by no evidence nor by any rumors put forth by reputable sources. That doesn't mean they are wrong, but to claim "air tight" or "obviously true" or to lead to insulting people who don't agree is hilarious.
