    This is wrong.

Players need to approach each game as complacently as possible and take things for granted.

This will create an atmosphere of cocksure inevitability around the team and cause creeping, debilitating doubt to well up in the fragile psyches of the non-formidable peers (every team save 3).

Like Malcom Gladwell said: it is important to count the chickens before they are hatched so you know how many chicken coops you need to order from Amazon.

Super Bowl here we come. Bank it.

Firstly, Amazon has a great return policy, so just over order, and

    B) even if they didnt, the whole point is dont buy too many. Just get one...as every chicken farmer knows you can cram a lot of baby chicks in a single coop. Then order the rest after you can count them -- using Amazon Prime for free 2-day shipping

Our season went from a throw away season before it started to only games against contenders matter. And contenders better be in the top 4 overall in win/loss. WTF? Why not enjoy what's happening?

Not only are there plenty of good teams in that stretch, every game is important. There are some games that seem more winnable than others but this is still the NBA, every game is tough.

The Rockets don't play a contender for the rest of the season, because we are the only contender...

Rockets will win half of the games against "true contenders", will go 45.5-2.5 for the rest of the season. Can probably fit a 24 winning streak in there. Let's just count all the chickens while at it.

January is often where the dog days begin for teams off to hot starts they cannot sustain.

Rockets have 10 road and 6 home games next month.

They finish the year with 19 home & 12 road on the road, which is very favorable.

If the Rockets can avoid a January slump, they have a very good chance of closing the sale on the 3rd seed if injuries don't bite them. It's great to be in this position. Didn't think this kind of season was possible.

Of course I see your point.

But I'd say it's more to the point to say a win streak is likely given that the team still learning and still improving. I'm sorry. I don't believe in jinxes. And what I'm seeing from this team is brand new in the sense that they almost never take games off.

I like rooting for win streaks and being optimistic. And our team is giving us every reason to be optimistic.

The Knicks game was maybe the second time I really felt the Rockets played down to the competition this year (also MN) but in both games they found ways to win and that is new. From Francis/Yao to Yao/McGrady to Harden/Howard, I haven't seen this before. Those teams haven't been able to do what this one has (even missing Capela or tonight Pat) which is to show up for each and every game. This was a real bugaboo for the last 20 years or so but seemingly not anymore.

This is new, this attitude of showing up to play at every game. And on the few occasions that they don't, finding a way to win anyway. It's why we're the surprise hit of the league and getting respect like Rockets teams maybe never have.

People, 10 of the next 14 games coming up are on the road and I think the Rockets are going to struggle a bit.
