I'm not sure why you always defend DMO so much? It's very clear why it ended this way, it's called GREED. DMO could have and should have accepted the QO, but he looked at that and said "I HAVE A FAMILY TO FEED", and now he's out pan-handling for change. Instead of watching the old Bulls, he needs to be reading about your boy Latrell Sprewell.
You say that, but he signed the deal and took a physical and it still ended poorly for reasons we don't know. I don't think it's fair to suggest that him not taking an early low ball offer is the reason it ended poorly. Either way, we'll see how it turns out in time. All we know now is that it kind of sucks for the Rockets and it looks like it really sucks for DMo at the moment.
DMo would be doing nothing right about now. With as little basketball as he's played in the past couple of years, he wouldn't be contributing for a couple of months. And that's only due to the Capela injury - without it, it could take longer.
The facts 1) Detroit nixed a trade based on his physical and sent him back 2) It took quite some time for any teams to pony up and make him an offer as an RFA 3) He's been a UFA now for 2 weeks and teams aren't clamoring to sign him 4) The offers that HAVE been tabled are about what Morey originally offered These all seem to validate Daryl Morey's moves and actions here. Sounds like DM the GM did the right thing by saying 'pass'. Most of us loved Dmo, but it appears there are factors we are not privy too. And the market is showing that. Or else he'd be offered HUGE money with the new cap, wouldn't he? A 'free' market shows real value
This is not true. Has he showed up and taken his physical when the rockets matched, he would have either been a rocket (if he passed) or a Net (if he failed). Regardless of what went before, his refusal to show up for the physical led to the final result. He should have showed up. Out of a multitude of mistakes made by dmo and Bj, that was the biggest. So much for knowing his rights.
Being an awesome team without him really helps. That and all our bigs are really good. DMo had a chance to join the party, but his agent screwed him. Now he's auditioning for the Lakers who have $2.5m to spend. I'd feel bad for him, but at this point I just don't care anymore.
If you guys see that #NBAVote thing going around facebook, you know what to do. #NBAVote Donatas Motiejunas I've done it twice.
Yeah, if we were doing poorly, many people would be calling Morey's head for giving up on DMo. But then, if we were doing bad, Morey might not have given up on the negotiation. So in a way, DMo caught all the bad timing, bad timing for hurting his back, and bad timing for wanting more. Everything that had happened in the past year and a half pretty much took away all the leverage he had. And he's not helping himself by picking an idiot agent to represent him.
This is incorrect, he would have had to settle for the low end 31m contract instead of the 37m, that he eventually agreed to with the Rockets - which caused the league to step in and nullify the deal for circumventing the CBA - and made him an UFA..... DD
This hasn't been confirmed. For all we know, the Rockets didn't like what they saw in his physical and in an attempt to do DMo a solid, went to the league to see if there was a way to get him to Brooklyn on the original deal and they said no. In theory, if they circumvented the CBA in some way, then he should be able to go to Brooklyn because Brooklyn did nothing wrong and for that reason it seems more plausible to me that the second contract was honored by the NBA and when the Rockets backed out for whatever reason, DMo couldn't accept the terms of the orignal because it was indeed torn up.
I only said that he would have ended up a rocket or a net. Either he would have gotten the $37m offer, or the $31 (or more offer), in either case. Had he showed up for the physical and passed, he would have gotten the $31m offer. Had he failed, he would have been at Net at $37m. Now he has nothing, because he failed to show up to the physical. BAD move. Agent should have never structured a deal that could be matched at a lower level, but once he did, DMO should have showed up for the physical.
