I'd make that deal in a heartbeat. Between Bogut and Nene you'd hope to get healthy minutes out of one of them in the playoffs. Seth Curry is nothing special, but he's better than Brewer. That deal makes ups a little better and clears salary for next year. The Heat would want nothing to do with that garbage offer for Dragic though. They are literally getting nothing of value.
Bored looking up stats for big guys I stumbled onto Kyle O'quinn. This guy seems like a very productive backup and could fit in formidably with Capella out. I think he should be relatively cheap to get as they were trying to trade him this offseason. They have Noah, porzingawd, getting minutes at the 5 above him. As well they have the lesser plumlee and rookie hermangomez. Looking at some interesting advanced #s Orb% is 14.8 Drb% is 24.2 Trb% is 19.5 So he is one of the better rebounders in the game % wise(12th best by trb%). Bpg% is 6.5 (gobert is 6.2) Dws is 0.6 Dbpm is 2.8 So he appears to be a very good defender. Ast% is 11.6 (15.9 last year) which is very good for a big. Maybe a lesser Diaw type role? His per is 20.2 with a ts% of .582 He's shooting. 736% from the 0-3 ft range and a formidable .488% from 16<3 (dreaded long two range). So he could make for a decent PnR and PnP backup C with a little passing ability. While being a good rebounded and good defender off the bench. I think kj/2nd could be done but maybe even include gentile to get it done. I would also appreciate any extra insight, as I am only looking at the numbers and haven't really watched any Knicks games this year, but feel this could be a morey-esque move
I and some others (KlutchQt?) have been championing him for years - especially when he started working on his 3ball
Nice. I don't see anything in his 3ball but I like that he has what appears a decent PnP shot. As a center being respectable from that long 2 is good for spacing almost as much as being a good 3% guy. I could envision him being a very good PnP guy at the top of the key/elbow with good passing potential off that play as well.
That was just a hard foul. Harden & Gordon would love having Bogut setting picks for them. Rockets fans would love watching Draymond Green get tangled up with Bogut.
I too got bored and started looking for pick n roll centers. I also remember Codman mention birds, but that was long before the Capela injury. However it could help as an add into a birds trade, Tiago Splitter. I don't know who the other players could be that were mentioned. I've heard Millsap, Korver and from the pels Tyreke Evans. I'm not a big fan of any of them, Tiago included. And for what it's worth Tiago is currently out too. I think he can be a nice backup in this system though, his per36 numbers are nice. He's older though (31) and I'm still on the Noel hype train, but Tiago could be a rotational player inside our system for sure.
You're entitled to your wrong opinion. Chemisty matters as you should know as a Rockets fan. Harden has a say on all personnel matters hence Bobby Brown. Bogut has as much chance of becoming a Rocket as Matt Barnes.
I could go for that. *1) Like: contract for Kyle O'Quinn 2) sum of parts (non-rotational guy) leaving. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of KJ's; the NBA deserves to see KJ....preferably on a weaker Eastern Conf team. 3) K O'Quinn can contribute right away & pay dividends playing C/PF. *1) dislike: inability to play above the rim on offense. Since Camby I've wanted the Rox to get another pogo-like player at center. In the likes of Tyson Chandler, Camby, Amare Stoudemire, Noel; Capela fits the bill if he could up his minutes to approx 34 mins/gm. Unfortunately that's too much to ask of the young Capela this year. I would like lobs over the top of the defense....but it's hard to find ideal fit during the season. O'Quinn would make backup PF/C a non-issue.....the other flaw I would like worked on is an additional wing (6'6" to 6'9") in the likes of 3&D. Either they tend to be all offense or all defense. I would like to see Quincy Acy (6'7" D-league prospect if available...RealGM.com has not reported signed tender & no contract w/Mavs reported currently......of course they don't report wink-wink deals either) play a few more games. I liked what I saw in footage of him in this D-league stint. He is shooting the 3 w/some arc, with guy in his face, good base, shlds square, quick enough release, follow thru. I just question if he runs the court well or jogs, takes plays off, & if he reverts back to poor shooting habits. Brewer looked like he worked with shooting coach in the summer & shot well (60%-80%) thru the first 3 preseason games......then shot flat, lost confidence, chunks it now just hoping to get in the vicinity. Acy has always been a good defender.....has had his battles with LeBron while he played with the Raptors. I want to defend LeBron like Warriors in 14/15....by committee. Iggy/Draymond/Klay/Harrison Barnes. Ariza/Harrell/Dekker/Acy would be nice. It's too much to ask Iggy or Ariza to guard LeBron 36 mins in the playoffs.....game in game out. I'm still looking x that wing. Give me O'Quinn and Acy at dirt low prices......and I would be content and ready for the finals run.
Another guy I've wanted is Aminu w/Portland. 6'9" that can defend positions 1-4. He had a good year last season shooting the 3. This yr he has struggled shooting 3's & FT's for some reason. Maybe he has turned into a pumpkin or he is struggling thru injuries. A team with Ariza and Aminu could be dangerous. Portland may be in sell mode soon.
Every team that has won an NBA title had players that knew their role and played well together. You can't just put players together and hope for the best. That's why Miami didn't win their first year with LeBron because they were confused on who should do what when it mattered the most. Cousins is a born loser when it comes to running a team. He is young, dumb and wants to get paid regardless of how bad the team does with his scoring points. The way of the big man has gone by for the time being and he won't be the one to revive it. Our team is doing extremely well and it takes time to build a championship type team. Morey has done well to build around Harden and seems to have found the right set of players to compliment his game. If the Rockets are only one player away from a championship level team then they need to consider a piece that will add to this already built team and play within the flow and not someone that would change the way the Rockets play completely. I'd rather have Capela than Cousins for that reason.
So I admittedly haven't watched hardly any Knicks games and surely not enough to have noticed or paid attention to oquinn. Does he play under the rim? All I did was is look at his numbers which say he shoots 45% of his shots from 0-3ft at a .736 clip. That's pretty efficient, but after examining a bit more it appears hes only had 11 dunks at only. 088% of his shots. So less than 1 out of 10. So I see what your saying and coming from. None the less results are results. And I'm guessing his high block rate and defensive has more to do with his length (7"4.75 wingspan & 8"10.5 standing reach) and defensive IQ.
O'Quinn can get over the rim. Like a younger Nene. Like Greg Monroe but better defender. Yes I like that block rate & ability to rebound. There is probably not a perfect addition out there; but fortunately the Rockets have the starters set. There tends to be more leeway for backups. Just too big a gap w/Brewer/Chinanu/Ennis/Bobby Brown...the baseball WAR stat in a sense.
All the chemistry that matters happens on the floor. Bogut's game fits. That first quarter comeback where the Mavs surrounded him with shooters. That would be another adjustment up the Rockets sleeve other teams would need to deal with. Harden would love him as his big screening out defenders.
Are you KJ? Your basketball IQ is ridiculously low. Why don't you just do a poll so you can see what an idiot you sound like Smh. Matt Barnes plays hard defense and sets hard picks too, with your logic Harden would be just ecstatic to have him on the squad. GTFO. We hate Bogut and Bogut hates us. Let it go man.
I think Morey probably drooled over the thought of trading for Cousins a year or two ago...but as crazy as this sounds, I think he's shifted his long term attention to acquiring AD by any means possible. Beard/Brow and shooters that can defend.
