Congratulations Texans. And thank you Jaguars for closing the door on the Titans playoffs hopes. Bwhahaha Thank you Fat Randy. Yes Division Champs baby
Texans earned the division. Worst injuries any team this season including OAK and TEN. Worst than NE with Gronk and Brady's suspension.. Eyes say Savage played top-25ish. Couple near picks, held the ball too long a couple times. No turnovers is excellent, but he'll need to do better for a playoff win... 20-ish is the bar.. He's learning, so we'll see.
Not impressed?! Impressive is being the #1 ranked defense (YPG) despite losing your starting DE and cornerback to the IR early in the season. One of whom is your team leader, motivator, perennial pro-bowler, and a future hall of famer. Then add that your starting QB for the first 14 games is statistically the worst in the league and turnover prone and yet Texans are still in the playoffs with a 9-7 or 10-6 record. Yes, IMO that's impressive.
Bootychin needs to trust his qb more. That run run pas bullshit made for the most dull half of offensive football I've ever seen. In the 2nd half when he started throwing on 1st down and going no huddle the offense came alive.
Texans' -42 point-diff is set to be top 3 worst all-time for a division winner. The South title is nice. but don't do #1.
i wonder how well our defense would be ranked in points if you take those short fields given to NE on special teams and the 2 special teams touch down scored on the texans. that's 28 points, 1.75 if those points are divided by 16 games. so a total of 18.55 going into this game would put them at 6th best in points allowed. It could be 4th after Sunday.
Top offensive grades: LT Duane Brown, 81.0 C Greg Mancz, 77.5 HB Alfred Blue, 67.4 WR Will Fuller, 62.1 LG Xavier Su’a-Filo Offense creates little production versus Bengals’ defense DeAndre Hopkins had one of the worst games you will see from him. He caught three passes for 43 yards on six targets, but also dropped a pass and was called for two offensive pass interference penalties. With lead-back Lamar Miller out, Alfred Blue received the majority of playing time. He had a nice 24-yard touchdown run where he was untouched, but otherwise averaged just 2.6 yards per carry on his other 21 runs and didn’t force a single missed tackle. Jeff Allen, Chris Clark, and Xavier Su’a-Filo allowed four or more total QB pressures each. Top defensive grades: CB A.J. Bouye, 90.4 CB Kareem Jackson, 81.6 OLB Whitney Mercilus, 81.3 OLB Jadeveon Clowney, 80.8 DT Vince Wilfork, 79.0 Texans’ front-seven dominates against the run Houston’s defense overwhelmed the Bengals, especially in the run game. DE/OLB Jadeveon Clowney led the team with an 84.3 run-defense grade, and is enjoying his best season as a pro. Clowney ranks fourth among all NFL edge defenders in run defense grade for 2016, and also has career highs in sacks, pass-rush grade, and snaps played. Defensive linemen Vince Wilfork, D.J. Reader, and Christian Covington were unmovable at times, and OLB Whitney Mercilus recorded two sacks and five hurries. CB A.J. Bouye had three pass breakups in the game, and currently ranks seventh among all NFL cornerbacks in coverage grade this season. https://www.profootballfocus.com/pr...ocial&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=nfl
So we're not the worst team in the entire playoffs AFC/NFC? We've only held the #1 ranking in defense for a week. A lot of that has todo with playing 6 games against 3 of the worst teams in football every year. Dude I'm a Texans fan I love the team. But I gotta call it like it is. Our pass defense is off the chain no doubt. I think Aj Bouye is a stud and easily a top 5 DB I'll be pissed if we don't keep. But we're bottom tier in sacks and turnovers, which is the game changers and how you win super bowls with your defense. I'm honestly in shock we're avg 18 ppg and we have a winning record. I think this is the worst 9-7 maybe 10-6 team of all time. I seriously have no idea how we won this many games. Credit to the D and Romeo. I guess it is impressive when you look at it from that point of view. But we're a joke nationally and I usually take offense to that because I think we get the raw end of the stick way to much..... not this time. I fully expect the Texans to get banged out in the wildcard game at home on national tv. You can't keep having your Defense bail you out every week and put up sub 20 points. Lets be honest we should not have won tonight. We should not have beaten Indy the first time. This team caught a lot of breaks. Unless Savage can build on the second half and this team starts scoring tds instead of fgs when there in goal situations. This team is going nowhere fast and the fans will show up and boo the Home team while they get embarrassed in 2 weeks.
And some posters are getting mad at me for saying this team sucks. Lol. We're garbage that stat says all I need to know. AFC south is terrible and shouldn't be allowed t be in the playoffs. What a joke. Thank you Houstunna for posting this.
I agree with pretty much everything you said here....if anything this games proves how BIG of a deal it is not to have Lamar Miller on the field like tonight
AFC south obviously isn't a good conference, I just think it's funny how the NFC west scampers by without any attention. Rams and Niners are two bottom-five teams. Cardinals are a collasal disappointment at 6-8-1, and Seattle gets too much love for what they are (9-5-1) and with clear issues. The media loves to hate on the afc south, but I think a good argument can be made that it isn't the top to bottom worst division. Same with AFC north.
Nope he's just doing what he does best. Miss fgs. He was about a foot away from missing the fg in the first half also.
I'm pissed at you because this is a game thread and you talking **** about everything but the game. Get the fack outta here.
Optimist vs. pessimist. If someone told me at the beginning of the year we'd lose JJ Watt, KJ, and that Osweiler would statistically be the worst QB in the league most people, including myself, would think we'd be in competition for the first pick in the 2017 draft. You said it. You're in complete shock that we have a winning record. That should tell you something. They're overachieving. The most important stat, some expert analysts would say, is the W/L. If the season ended today we would be playing a team we've already beaten at home. Also we should have beat (Raiders) who just lost their QB. Consider that for a moment, given the blown calls in that game we arguably should be ending our regular season at 11-5. I'm not going to call them pathetic, unworthy, or undeserving. To see a "fan" say that about his/her team after a playoff-clinching win is oxymoronic. This is why some consider Houston to have the worst fans. Insatiable. They made playoffs but you're not happy with the way they did it? I really hope the Texans playoff-clinching win doesn't ruin your Christmas. Tough task, I know. New season when playoffs start. They have a chance and that's all I need. Happy Holidays.
One thing for sure, we own the Bengals in important games just like the Sonics own the Rockets back in the 90s. Remember the Seahawks once made the playoff with a 7-9 record. They got a home game and beat the heavy favorite Saints. In a 1 game playoff, anything can happen. A good defense have a better odd than a good offense like last year.
