I'm confused now. Judging by Israeli government's actions & some of the comments in this thread, I'm beginning to think that we are somehow the junior partner in this relationship and we are the recipient instead of the donor of billions of military aid annually

So Obama abstains from this issue but decides to veto the 9/11 victims bill, and all his supporters be like: terrorism and anti-Semitism is OK.

 

I find it inspiring that people within the Democratic party can disagree about substantive issues. I only wish modern Republicans would do the same and not use obstruction as a tool to gain votes.

I think what Israel has done to colonize another people by building settlements on land owned by them has been the lowest and immoral acts.

Ok, so at least we agree that Israel is entitled to exist. That's a big step forward from the narrative that was ruled by the lefties on this board up until now. Now we can get some kind of imaginary process forward. If not then we have to revert back to the endless discussion why the Jews need a country that they could call home.
Let's say we passed that, and agree that the situation is that the state of Israel does exist, and the Palestinians persute for self determination is not going to go away, then we understand that the 2 state solution is the only viable solution. Again, another big step forward to achieve any progress.
Now in order to achieve peace between 2 nations, judging by what is going on around the neighborhood, they are both in a much logical situation. It's about territory and not a religious war.
So if it's territory based war, and you agree that the 67' borders is a viable solution (even if not ideal to both sides), then we are really moving forward.
Regardless what you hear in the news, the majority of the Israelites will support this solution if they could be convinced that it's not a trick to get closer to Tel Aviv and terrorise Haifa, Tel Aviv and the Gallily to get all of the land, which is what was called by Arafat: step 2. Unfortunately the majority of the Palastinians leaders are saying that out loud, and the world ignores.
I wish we could end this stupid war, when both sides will realize how much better off they will be moving forward to a prosperous future instead of looking back and seeking revenge.
