Parsons is more skilled, and the better player - he was SEC player of the year coming into the draft.

Dekker is a nice complimentary piece, but his dribble is pretty poor, and he can't create as well....but overall am happy with Dekker, just think he is a notch below Parsons.

    Not accounting for injuries etc.

Dekker's tweets across last season had me worried that he was going to be another immature guy that doesn't know when to keep things to himself.

But I also remember it wasn't until about year 3 that Parsons started showing his true colors. So, fingers crossed for Decker.

I remember people said Budinger was better than Parsons because they wanted Chase to start.

The answer is I don't know. Dekker seems more athletic and a better rebounder, but not the ball handler or passer.

Defense is to be seen. Chandler started off a solid defender then sucked

Scoring wise I can see Dekker reaching the same ppg. Neither can really create their own shot but Dekker is a better driver and right now his 3pt shot looks way better even though Parsons had some good 3pt shooting year

Generally speaking (and to answer the OP's question), probably not. At CP's peak he was a highly skilled complimentary star that for a while was widely regarded as one of the league's most undervalued players. Dekker looks promising, but not sure he'll ever reach the level of CP's [albieit brief] peak.

That said, Dekker reminds me more of an Aminu type anyway - and there's absolutely nothing at all wrong with that.

False. Parsons much better athlete, better jump shot, and handles.

Parsons was basically playing the Trevor Ariza role when McHale inserted him as the starter; defend the best wing player, hit the open 3, bring the ball up occasionally but not really a point forward. Dekker has more of the Mario Elie role in being the energy bench player that gave whatever was needed. In time that could change.

Dekker has sweeter dunks but Parsons probably a better overall player....when healthy. Talk about a guy plagued by injuries.

He doesn't have the play making skills of Pretty boy Parson.

But he ain't as good looking as Parson.

    Parson looks like a model

Dekker looks like a Mid-Western Meth head that drinks Pabst Blue Ribbons

    So Dekker wins by default.

    Parsons Decker
    Shooting. X
    X Passing.
    Defense. X
    X Finishing at rim. X
    X Handles.
    X Basketball IQ. X
    X Rebounding
    X Recruiting
    X Overall

I think currently Parsons is the obvious choice but that Decker can still surpass him by improving his rebounding, court vision/passing, and learning more about how to play the NBA game.

People are tripping about Dekker becoming better than Parsons - really? Parsons was a legitimate point forward, had a very nice handle and could basically do a little bit of everything. I'm not the biggest fan of what Chandler became once he left Houston and he's been injury riddled ever since but he was LEGIT. How quickly some of you forget.
