Seems like a pretty logical thing for Morey to do, and nothing out of the ordinary. Turning minutes to Nene and Harrell would be his first option, but if for some reason the Rockets could get a good big man at the cost of nothing then it would be brainless to not make that move as well. However, Suns losing Stoudamire for the season was a far bigger loss than the Rockets losing Capela for a few weeks, yet somehow the Suns did not miss a beat without Stoudamire. I have confidence D'Antoni will have a way of making up 20 minutes of play time from Capela.
Didn't we also lose Yao after win 10 in the 22 game win streak? Let's sign Deke to a 10 game contract.
6 weeks would be brutal. 4 weeks you can work with. But either way, we will be dropping some spots in the standings.
Very natural reaction to the loss of a key big during a successful season. The second part, claiming the most likely scenario of turning minutes to Nene and Harrell is IMO nothing but a preventive step lest trading partners driving up the prices of HOU potential targets.
I am here with you, when FO tells us it 4-6 ,I am thinking 8-10, just how it is, and after the fact french paper break the news I don't think it's 4-6 weeks at all, but I hope, I am very WRONG. Feel better BIG C.
Nene is to old to be relied on at this point in time. My guess is D'Antoni might have to play extreme small ball with Anderson finishing games at the 5 with Trevor at the 4, Gordon at the 3, Bev at the 2 and James at the 1.He really needs a big to fill the gap quick. For those fools who wanted Trevor gone, we will now see why he is such a valued piece with his extreme versatility on defense
He definitely needs a big to fill the gap quick. We also just lost a guy with enough energy to run the floor, and some old big can't fill that spot either. Just getting someone in shape to run our fast system could limit their minutes too, especially if they aren't used to starting.
I think it would be foolish to make a short term move here unless its a killer deal that helps beyond this year. I like the idea of grabbing one of the Sixers bigs, but I don't like the notion that Noel (whose the "most" available) will be a free agent this Summer. Okafor or Rashaun Holmes would make a ton of sense if you can get a quality deal. What I don't like is the idea of investing big money the next few years on a short term solution like Tyson Chandler or Omer Asik. Capela is perfect for this team moving forward, and the best thing about him is that he's virtually free next year allowing the Rockets to make a big splash in free agency this Summer.
