R.I.P. - Pimp C's death was almost 10 years ago... December 4th, 2007. How does this song CLOSELY relate to his death? Hint #1 - Lyrics aren't drug related, necessarily Hint #2 - Words aren't local to HOU Hint #3 - First verse
FYI - immediate family has been fighting of what's left of his estate Also, here's a pretty cool documentary of the life and times of Chad Butler Also, here's another sad fact: PIMP C was a COWBOYS FAN!!!!
Nobody's perfect, right? I'm glad he didn't rap about them. Don't recall his ever doing it. He mentioned the Rockets championships in one song. New TRIVIA question!!!! Nice uploads on those videos you posted.
It's always cool talking about H-town/Texas legends, UGK.. You seem as lame as the man in picture. Congrats
No, he never rapped about it. Bun brought it up a few times when he was hosting on Sports Talk 790 with the Proper Gentlemen, and mentioned how him and Pimp would get into it because he was an Oilers fan. But he also said that Pimp was a big time Rockets fan. So at least Pimp got one thing right I've always wondered what Bun would be like as a person nowadays if Pimp was still around. Bun is so laid back now a days and focused on so much outside of music. Pimp was always a "I'ma keep it real" kinda guy and in a way kind of wreckless. I can see if he were still alive, Pimp and Bun could've had a huge falling out. Just my opinion based on listening to Bun on 790
They had many disagreements including the whole beef with ATL. If Pimp was alive... mayne,.... I can hardly imagine how great it would be. UGK was first reaching their national stardom when he passed, they would've made at least one more album together. Regardless, there's no doubt UGK was more Pimp than Bun. Bun was easily the better lyricist though.
Pimp C lived his gimmick. Bun didn't, and doesn't. It's allowed him to become a real ambassador for Houston, which is a good role for him. Nobody's got beef with Bun B. These rappers today would give Pimp C a heart attack. No way he could play nice and keep his mouth shut. Sucks to miss out on all the great tunes he could have made.
Damn, it's been almost ten years already? Time flies. I'd like to think Pimp would still be ****in' w/ Bun here and there. UGK 4 life, after all. Thanks a lot, Houstunna. Now it's mandatory for me to take a drive and throw on my old UGK CDs. I'm sending you the gas bill. Think I'll start w/ Supa' tight.
They've always been like that so I don't see why they would have a falling out. Remember Pimp C didn't originally want to do Big Pimpin with Jay. Bun was always the lyrical guy and Pimp C gave it to you raw. Plus these guys are just getting older. For example, Willie D does a column for the Houston Press and Scarface loves to golf lol.
I know Bun B personally. Never met Pimp. If Pimp was alive, Houston music scene would have been more united during that rise and probably still somewhat relevant today.
Totally agree with everyone that had Pimp not died so early, H-Town rap would've survived longer on a national level Also, here is one of my favorite UGK songs of all time
Willie D has a weekly podcast that I really like. Last week's was with K Rino. Since we're dropping Pimp C verses.. his best one ever:
