Typical myth perpetuated even by Houston fans.

    Harden's career eFG% : 51.8%

    Tmac's career eFG% : 47.0%

Take away all the free throws and strictly compare their shooting efficiency - which is what eFG% does - Harden is still miles better than Tmac.

Harden is stronger and able to finish through contact, he also has all the technical skills to finish better, like the right spin.

That makes him a better finisher, not necessarily the better driver. Tmac was much quicker and faster. Harden is still a great driver, but in a different way. Harden is the best I've ever seen at slowing down and letting his opponent go past him or just simply bumping him off.

I would say that Harden has definitely worked harder to improve his game than TMac ever did.

Compare the eras though. T-Mac played in the early 2000s where there was no offense. It's gotten remarkably easier for perimeter players to put up stats now.

Maybe you have a different definition of what 'driver' means, but Harden is the better 'slasher' in that he scores more efficiently around the rim. Harden gets by his defenders using change of direction and speed, which is actually more effective than solely relying on athleticism like Westbrook or Tmac.

not true. Westbrook's eFG% this season is measly 46.0% and is still considered a strong MVP candidate.

Also, of those players top 10 in scoring, Harden's eFG% is 4th only behind Durant, LeBron and Lillard, and ahead of AD, DeRozan, Cousins, Isiah Thomas, Westbrook and Butler.

Harden's normal FG% seems mediocre only because he takes a ton of 3s while not making them at super elite rate, which hurts his percentage. If you look at his 2 point FG%, it's actually very high for a guard: 51.3%.

If your point is Harden is better than McGrady
than you have successfully proven that water is wet

Tmac was pretty quick for his size but I don't think some of you guys remember tmac that was in houston.

Harden if we're going just pure quickness is no doubt quicker than tmac especially with the ball.

The big knock on tmac after his first year here is that he stopped taking it to the hoop and settled to much for long 2s and 3s.

I like tmac but I don't think even his best year in Orlando is better than what harden is doing this year.

And if we're strictly talking about rockets career it's no contest. Harden in a land slide.

Honestly you can make an argument that every season harden has had in houston is better than tmacs best year in houston.

I guess Harden is finally playing better defense than T-mac so I guess its time to start having this discussion *shakes head while making sarcastic face*.

Who are these people who think T-mac wasn't more than a low level all star that had an over blown sense of his talent. If he would have known how inefficient he was on offense his teams would have played much better during the post season and hence why the best post season run of the Rockets in the T-Mac era was when he was hurt, not a coincidence.

Just goes to show that if we only had a supporting cast around those two like we do now (3 point shooters) while they were in that little window of being healthy we could have done some real damage.

I think T-Mac and Harden have both done great for Houston.

I think T-Mac is the better player. But Harden has been here longer and done more in that time and that's all that matters.

I give Harden the nod. That's no slight to McGrady though. Both great players for the Rockets.

If we never win another game is Harden better than Tmac? I'd say yes.

Harden is doing some things that are really rare. Even the blacklisted 2015 all nba snub season was amazing, and he's even better this year. He still hasn't hit prime. It's Scary.

How is this even a question? Tmac as a Rocket was good, but Harden is playing at historic level. All time great level!!!

Well T-Mac had to lead us to that winning streak without Yao for a lot of it. Now that Capela is out for 6-8 weeks, can Harden do the same?
