The cgi wasn't distracting at all unless you knew it going in and were bothered by the idea.

i did notice how old James earl jones sounded as Vader. Wow that was sad. Still loved the Vader scenes and the ending sequence with him obliterating folks was a scene I have wanted for years. I'm glad we finally got that!

I hope we get a standalone Vader movie where he is hunting the Jedi.

Dude, I want them to pump out a Darth Vader Franchise like they did with Freddy and Jason. It could be like a Sci Fi horror slasher, just Vader going ham!!!

Really enjoyed it. As mentioned the last 1/3 was beyond awesome. Hard to know where I would rank it as IV, V, VI are just a part of my childhood DNA.

That's the thing. The original trilogy means so much to me that it's hard to rank this one with them, but I suspect that I will ultimately admit to enjoying it more than any but empire.

The only thing it lacked was characters that captivated me like Luke, leia, Han, chewy and obi wan and lando not to mention original exposure to Vader.

As a stand alone action movie, how high would you rank this with the all time classics? specifically action movies?

Hmm it's hard for me to think of it that way because of the history but very high I imagine. It was very well done

Outside of characters, story and the fact it says star wars, what is the appeal?

For me, characters are the most important of almost any movie and I have seen positive reactions about the robot but the rest look like a conglomerate of committee decided shoes to fill. That is why I am surprised the box office is doing so well.

Not much, it works as a standalone film IMO. They spell out pretty much everything you'd need to know, but it's more fun the more you know. You could miss all of the background fan service and still very much enjoy the film.....if you can enjoy a gritty and somewhat dark war film.

Story was well done. Action was intense and fantastic. The last 1/3 of the movie is stunning. The lack of powerful characters (though all do a good job and the two ex-temple guards are outstanding) surprisingly doesn't detract from the experience. A lot of the protagonist characters are a bit darker than the other movies which fits well with the plot. They don't have the charm spliced into their characters In the same way as the other movies. Instead of lovable smugglers and innocent young people you have repressed people fighting in a war and these characters just have more grit. But all of the acting was really good. It was really great and I will see it again.

I don't necessarily see this one selling tons of Action Figures as it wasn't as kid friendly as the other movies...but man it really was a good movie.

Went to see it with some buddies today after a night of drinking. Fell asleep less than a minute into it because of lack of sleep. Wasted $11 and my friends said it was awesome. Oh well, maybe I'll go again

So my question was with characters that you admit are inferior (and the only one people in this thread are mentioning is the robot), how do you think it is possible that you "will ultimately admit to enjoying it more than any but empire."

For me, characters make a movie.

I liked that all the characters died. It makes the movie have a complete different tone, and makes it more powerful for ANH
Loved it! Best Star Wars since ESB. Will go to theater to see again.
