Who'd you rather have Anderson or Parson? Both got max contracts or close to it. Morey has been searching under every opportunity to add the stretch 4 for years. He got his guy even at this extreme price. If he gives the Rockets just what they need to keep the offense flowing fluidly, its paying off, exactly what Morey thought he was worth.
Hopefully this is the case, or maybe Anderson starts getting more aggressive like tonight. I only have an issue with him because he doesnt shoot enough, being 40% 3 pt shooter doesn matter if you score only 2 3s a game. He has been more aggressive as of late though which is a good sign.
Is this a real question? Parsons has not had a healthy season since he left the Rox. When we had him healthy and on the Rox though he performed really well, we could play harden at pg and have him as our SG.
Once Anderson goes on a mindless tear for 10 games or so, you guys will change your mind. Just be glad Gordon is doing more than his part at the moment to cover Anderson's struggles.
Anderson's 3pt game is good. He's actually on sucking on TWO pointers oddly enough, at least its not the threes. Maybe its kinda hard to get in 2 pt rhythm when he's 35 feet from basket all the time, when the offense doesnt want his midrange shots, and he's really not being asked to "create" anything. When he was actually counted to get any kind of score in Wolves game, he came through with some offensive putbacks and took on the role. Eric Gordon can spot up and dribble drive create on his own. I think Anderson more needs to be "featured" or allowed to do his poor-man Dirk thing. Thats on offense. On defense and rebounding, he's adequate on boards when focused despite his low numbers. Defense is not good at all honestly but he does try. Though its stretch 4 worthy more than the Matt Bonner, Andrea Bargnani, Steve Novaks types. Besides Kevin Love, what 4 has the TRUE DEEP shooting touch as Ryan on that volume of attempts? Every guy you name is a worse shooter, has holes, lacks size, or is just flat unavailable. Like it or not he's the "Klay" of stretch 4's that way.
I think he's the best shooting big in the league. Love is not nearly as good as Ryno. Ryno tries hard on defense and rebounds and that's all that really matters. If he was even avg at D and was a consistent 10 rebound guy, he would be a better Kevin love and making 5-7m more than what we paid. Just remember we got Ryno/Gordon for 33m thunder got Adams/olidipo for 46m. I like our value much better.
I like ryno but this is ridiculous. K.Love is extremely good and a legitimate star. Best strech 4 in the league.
List of players since 2014-2015 who are 6-9, shot at least 4 threes a game, made 38% of them, and are forward or centers. Channing Frye 14-15 Chandler Parsons 14-15 Mirza Teletovic 15-16 Nikola Mirotic 15-16 Chandler Parsons 15-16 Marvin Williams 15-16 Mirza Teletovic 16-17 Paul George 16-17 Ryan Anderson 16-17 Kristaps Porzingis 16-17 Kevin Love 16-17 And if I push it to 4.5 attempts on 40% then only Marvin, Ryan, Love, and Mirza make the cut. And if I push the date back to 09-10 then only 26 year old Channing Frye on the Suns joins the group. If we go back 10 years only Troy Murphy, Hedo, Rashard Lewis and Danny Granger are added. So tell me, where is Matt Bonnor and Ray Allen in that group? This off season I wished we signed Marvin Williams over Ryan Anderson. This season he's shooting 5 threes a game on a 35% clip. Anderson is taking 6 on 40%. I'm still not a huge fan of Anderson as a complete player, but there are only like 4 other guys in the league who can do what he does. From the original 4 attempts and 38% template then only two are superstars, one is a rookie on his way to be a superstar, and the other is Mirza Teletovic. Take that as you want. Edit: the contract still sucks, but try to ignore that when evaluating player value. He's a solid player. Should have been something like 4/64 instead of 4/80 but whatevs.
Well some posters are saying Ryno doesnt even have to do anything on court, his mere presence makes the offense top 10 LOL. I bet nobody says that about Klove, he puts up 20 and 8 and still gets called an empty stats padder. Meanwhile Ryno doesnt put up anything and gets called MVP lol
Literally who calls Anderson mvp? I know it's not fair to compare, but look at Steph Curry. You see the amount of attention he draws? He doesnt have to touch the ball, but the defense is focused on him and especially his defender. One slip up and thats a 48% guranteed 3 points. Now Eric Gordon is like a step below that. Not as lethal, but you don't want to leave him open. Ryan Anderson is the Eric Gordon of power forwards. Not an extremely lethal shooter like Curry (because there are very few players like Curry in the history of the NBA such as bird, Reggie, Allen, ect), but still lethal enough that you have to pay attention. Typically defending 4s are frolicking around the paint playing help defense, but Ryan takes them out their comfort zone having to defend way out in the perimeter. That in itself is very valuable because it helps Harden so much. Imagine all those times Harden got pass Harrison Barnes, but then Draymond Green was there to switch onto Harden because he was guarding 29% Josh Smith. You think Harden loved driving by Barnes only to meet up with Green under the rim? Now imagine Harden driving pass Klay and having to NOT meet Green because Draymond has to stick his ass on 40% Ryan. You think James likes that or hates that? It's not that hard. And people called Love empty stats because he never made the playoffs as the franchise player for the wolves. Anderson has never been considered a franchise player. Quit reaching Mr fantastic
Most of Anderson's stats are being usurped by other players on the Rockets, which is all part of the game plan to maximizing overall offensive efficiency. There have been (and will be) games where he will have increased usage and put up big numbers because defenses decide to leave him open, but in the meantime he's an elite floor spacer which means the rest of the guys will shoot at a higher percentage when he is on the court.
Lot of things to like from Ryno in the Timberwolves game. Stats: 28 points on 19 shots, 7 made 3's, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block. At the end of the game, Ryno was playing the 5 and guarding KAT. Ryno did a good job fronting KAT and the Timberwolves had to go somewhere else with the ball. Ryno was pretty active defensively and was able to guard KAT without fouling. Ryno got a big steal on the KAT pass to Rubio and drew an offensive foul on KAT. Ryno got off to a fast start in the 1st quarter with 11 quick points and then hit some big 3's to help the Rockets come from behind to win. Ryno had the 2nd most shot attempts on the team and teammates passed him the ball more often this game. Ryno should be averaging 15-20 ppg so it's a good sign to see Ryno's increased shot attempts. Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson are close in terms of who's the better scorer. Ryno is currently the Rockets 3rd leading scorer and could become the 2nd leading scorer for the Rockets with more shot attempts.
I THINK he's just saying Anderson is better SHOOTER than Love only. Not that he's a better PLAYER than Love After that comment, he puts DOWN Anderson's rebounding and defense saying its below average. How can you say a below average rebounding and defending 4 is better than Love knowing the beast Love is on the boards? (Putting words in for him maybe)
We'll said, some members like to dress bullcrap up. Nobody said or make it sounds as if Ryno was playing a MVP brand of basketball. People are saying he stretches the defense whether he's on or off. Teams have to respect his 3 point shooting because when he's on, he's on.
