We all owe this man an apology. This is the best the rockets has ever played in the history of H-town.
Same. But I came into this season with an open mind and was hoping to at least be a .500 team. But wow what a season so far!
I think the fact that he found a team that embraces his beliefs from top to bottom and allowed him to vindicate himself is all he needed.
So is anybody going to admit they were wrong? Not going to mention names but there were many here who were vehemently displeased with the front office for this move. Remember it was all about Le$ and his money. It's still early but it seems they almost made all the right moves.
I was not against the hire, I just had no idea we would be playing this good. I was thinking we would be 6-8 seed in the West. Right now we are probably top 4 in the league.
I don't owe D'Antoni a gawd damn thing! I put respek on his name when he was hired. I was hopeful because I thought the pieces worked for his system (I think I made a thread about it). Didn't know he would be this good though..
1. This team has yet to even approach the Clutch City teams. 2. How much of this is Harden having better teammates rather than Dan Tony?
I hated the hire. I thought it was a mistake to go all offense and neglect the Rockets biggest issue, defense. Instead, they improved their offense, are scoring 3's at a pace surpassing the Warriors, and are looking more and more like a contender. There defense is still suspect, and Dantoni track record in the playoffs makes me nervous... but we'll just cross that bridge when we get to it.
I'm shocked that so many didn't expect more regular season success. I mean that's what he's known for.
Thank to D'antoni, the rockets will never talk about Ricky Rubio again....they were trying to get rubio to run the point and harden remaining as shooting guard...
I think D'Antoni said defense just has to be "good enough"... i think it's been better than "good enough". Biggest difference is that everyone on the court is giving max effort. Don't have to have great defensive players, but as long they're giving max effort, you're gonna have a serviceable defense. Also helps when you're draining 3's and winning... more motivation to play well and with max effort.
He reminds me of Leicester City's Claudio Ranieri. Everyone in Leicester was talking **** about him when he got hired and the rest is history. Hopefully we will surprise the world like Leicester did.
You gotta play the games though! Rockets have to string some games together before you start saying they are going to win 55-60 games!
