    He never played hardball .

It is standard ****ing procedure to extend a qualifying offer and make the RFA go get an offer sheet.

In fact Morey did one better and offered him a 2 year contract at wait for it ... A whole 1 million less than the contract he eventually got with the nets .

The rockets original deal was for 7+1 and the nets was for 8.3+1 ... EXCEPT the nets contract potentially locked his ass in for 4 years .

When we then matched the nets it was not unexpected that we didn't match all the incentives . There was precedence for that . Furthermore there's no reason to say we wouldn't have negotiated those incentives after he took the physical.

Finally .. BJ has been straight up antagonist to he rockets FROM THE GET GO , and Morey and the coaching staff said nothing but good things about Dmo publicly .

The entire time the FO has been nothing but professional, forgiving , and open . That's not called playing hardball .

Morey plays hardball with other FO's not with players . 3 year 24 mil to Bev , 3 year 24 mil to brew . Let's parsons out early .

At the very least, Rockets doesn't have to deal with this mess anymore, and Dmo won't be constraint by the Rockets anymore. Let's face it, both parties lost, but they can finally move on.

And I'm sure that's the case Morey tried to make, but no one was buying it.

So an underperforming employee tells you he will not go to work unless you give him a raise. Your team right now is doing very well, people are happy, and so you stand your ground and ignore his request, and the employee part ways with the company soon after. What you are suggesting is as an employer, you just screwed up by not caving in.

Wouldve been happy if he stayed...BUT dont really care he is gone. He is an extremely lucky guy that the Rockets were willing to play ball with him and release him outright. Wont be surprised if the Jazz sign him soon though...

First of all who is this BJ? And second, the team is not hurting without him and we have had plenty of players step up and show they can be counted on recently. Now realistically we all know we need one more legit piece to make us a serious threat in the playoffs.....is DMO it? I love the guy but sorry he is not that piece, spend that money elsewhere.

An under-performing employee? Since when? It kind of sounds like your opinion on the issue is shaped by your opinion of the player. Anyway, that's fine, but if it's the case then we're wasting our time discussing this.

They didn't have to say he failed the physical because he didn't show up to the physical on time anyway so there was no need. The Rockets believe it or not were doing DMO a solid by not doing that and just renouncing his rights. They didn't want to damage his prospects of going to another team.

It might be that Dmo/BJ called the NBA to complain about the Rockets trying to get out of the contract and the Rockets had the right because Dmo failed to show-up in the first few days. Regardless, I am sure this was about his back - the team wouldn't go from trying to keep him one day to dumping him right when he was ready to report and be part of the team with MDA looking forward to having him.

Think about no other explanation makes any sense.

I don't care that he is gone, but I hate that he is gone with nothing coming back in return.

Yes, you are right. It's sad that there could be no resolution.

....since he injured his back and hasn't been able to stay on the court......? Why do you think no one until the BKN offered him a contract greater than the QO?

That's what perplexing about this.... Morey wouldn't just allow DMo to be given up for nothing unless he had to....

BJ is BJ Armstrong, DMO's agent.

More than anything I'm upset we lost an asset. DMO could have snagged us a 2nd round pick.

There's a lot more to this than we know. This is not a Morey move.

If they didn't buy something it was tearing up the nets offer and rewkorking it .

Every RFA is expected to go get an offer sheet

Honestly the Rockets really needed the trade chip. That contract would have been essential to any trades in the near future.

Yeah I want to apply Occam's Razor here and say it's the just the physical and health. And everything else about the contracts is just noise and chatter

(Rockets would take injury risk for 1 year $4.5 mil, $7 mil with team options every year, NO on $9 mil possibly damaged goods, nothing more to it)

Don't need it. Pick and pop bigs are good enough in today's NBA.. Anderson still shoots like a pro from 40 feet out.

BJ sucked and blew it until Morey couldn't take it anymore.
