There weren't that many of us tbh. A lot of people who may seem like DMo only fans were actually Rockets fans who fell in love with DMo as a player. Like DD, just less radical/creepy. He was called fan favorite for a reason, great underdog story, many may have forgotten that DMo spent first 2 years mostly in McHale's doghouse, getting to play 4 seconds in some games, benched for weeks after ONE SINGLE MISTAKE usually. DNP-CD was also a common thing (playoffs against Portland most noticeably where LMA was eating Jones/Asik alive and every fan was begging to play DMo. "Nope"-McHale), right before his breakout too. I just hope people who show up to Toyota Center, once DMo returns with another jersey, will have more class than Chicago "fans" who booed D. Rose and will not do the same to DMo, who was nothing but a great guy for all his time in here.
That's the only reasonable explanation I have found so far, but I have to wonder If there is something more juicy to this.
If he was 14-15 DMo oh for sure. But I don't think that DMo is coming back. He looked like booty last year. But wule C how he plays. Wish him luck!
finally. people this is great news. the rotation is absolutely perfect right now. What the rockets have this year is very rare. appreciate it.
Quick recap: 1. DMo signs an offer sheet from the Nets, including a base salary plus incentives. 2. Rockets match Nets' base offer, but aren't required to match incentives. 3. DMo wants the incentive money and complains to BJ, who complains to Morey. 4. (Behind the scenes) Morey tells BJ, "We'll give you the incentives if you cave on the option dates." BJ agrees, but says, "How you gonna do that?" Morey winks and replies, "Tell DMo to refuse to report for the required physical. Then the Nets' offer and our matched offer both become invalid. After that, we can do a new deal." BJ is impressed with Morey's contract wizardry, especially since dumbass BJ totally overlooked the incentives-not-needing-to-be-matched thing in the first place. 5. DMo does as told and refuses to report for the physical. 6. The Rox wait him out, then offer the newly reworked contract. 7. DMo agrees, takes the physical and passes. 8. Between the passing of the physical and DMo arriving at the Toyota Center that night, the Nets complain to the league office that some fishy **** is going down. 9. The league office says, "Not so fast, Morey!" 10. Days pass. 11. Finally the league says, "This voiding of the matched offer and signing a new contract is problematic, but we can't quite accuse you guys of manipulating the situation on purpose, so instead, you have two choices: DMo sticks with the orginal matched offer sheet with no incentives and the bad option dates, or you cut him lose and make him a RFA, which is still your right because he didn't show up for the physical required by THAT contract." 12. Morey calls Les and gives him the situation. 13. Les says, "Aw, f*ck it. I'm done."
Wow, this isn't a very good end for the Rockets, but at least it's over. I wish DMo luck wherever he lands and I certainly hope that we don't end up needing him.
