Not a bad trade scenario. Yeah, clearly Cousins would have to want to stay in Phoenix for them to give up those assets. Maybe the "Kentucky connection" of Bledsoe/Booker and Cousins could be enough to do it.
I wonder if the kings would give us Labissiere for KJ/Brewer. He was a top 10 pick in the mock draft so shouldnt he have some talent?
Devin Booker is also a Wildcat. I think what the Suns need right now is a post presence & to get out of the glut they currently have with that backcourt. Trading for Cousins fixes both issues. Hell, they still have Dragan Bender who might turn out to be a solid player in 2-3 years.
I honestly think that it is 50/50 about the team you get drafted in(coaching staff etc.) and the player himself. Maybe we would talk about the great hasheem thabeet if he got drafted to another team. And since we've done so well with harrell and dekker this year i guess we could do something with labissiere?!
It wouldn't be a Morey trade if he couldn't nab a 2nd rounder out of the Suns for "taking on the contract (yrs) of Tyson Chandler."
Not a bad proposal at all but I think it would cost phoenix more and they have to risk the infamous (will he resign here can we convince him to stay) risk it would take. But they would have to likely add their own 1st and another young player. As for Houston its good, but at this point as much as I have advocated for collision in the past, I don't want him possibly messing with the locker room with his bad mojo. Swap casspi or McLemore and I'm game
I wouldn't do that if I were Phoenix. Giving up a 15/10 man (if he played more minutes) in Len, their 19 year old that looks like he could be a legit NBA player and a 1st for essentially Cousins, is too much. They don't become a playoff team suddenly and his contract is up after next year. I'd hope for a good draft pick and build the team up. To me, Phoenix needs to stay young. If I'm them, I trade Bledsoe for a future.
I don't see the Rockets making a big trade this February, but I can see them making small trade. Korver is falling out of favor in Atlanta, not to mention he's a free agent after the season. And the 76ers are looking for a veteran wing on a roster full of young players, plus they're the only team that could take on Brewer's contract with minimal salary in return. Here's my proposal: - Houston receives: Kyle Korver - Atlanta receives: KJ McDaniels, Hollis Thompson, 2017 2nd round pick via Houston - Philly receives: Corey Brewer Rockets roster would be: - PG: James Harden, Tyler Ennis - SG: Patrick Beverley, Eric Gordon - SF: Trevor Ariza, Kyle Korver - PF: Ryan Anderson, Sam Dekker - C: Clint Capela, Nene, Montrezl Harrell D-League: Kyle Wiltjer, Chinanu Onuaku *Sure, you could target a weakness and try to look for a rim protector. But rim protectors aren't cheap right now, and Capela is still developing. I think it'd be easier to go all out on perimeter shooting, add to their strengths, and bring in another shooter.*
Random trade idea eh? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/random-houston-rockets-trade-ideas-2016-17.277831/
Yep, just trying to think of something reasonable that Morey could actually pull off without disrupting chemistry.
If Morey could make this happen, I say give him a 10 year extension. We aren't getting rid of Brewer unless there are first round picks and or other Dekker/Harrell involved. But crazier stuff had happened. Korver would fit great in the system though.
If Atlanta said no, I wouldn't mind Brewer and a 2nd for Hollis Thompson straight up. You dump Brewer's contract, and get an underrated Thompson (career 40% 3PT shooter).
You can go two directions. Focus on your weakness, or build towards your strength. I think it's easier to build towards your strength. You can bring in an elite defender, but does that really fit the system?
Do we really have to go through this again? Korver is old and slow, turning 36 in March. He's not the deadly shooter he used to be and terrible on Defense. His Net Rating is -6.2, the already struggling Hawks lose on both sides when he's on the court, so he's not even helpful on the Offensive end anymore. And Korver will be a Free Agent in July, you don't give up anything of value at this time.
eh, he's still shooting over 40% from 3 in a horrible system. And you're not really losing anything of value in this trade. You have to throw in a pick to get rid of Brewer's contract.
