Might as well say Lechler has beaten the Colts twice since he's always punting it when the offense stalls

Sadly, OP might have some truth to this.... overall, it still has been a disappointing season. And overall, I'm not liking what I see from Brock to be our QB of the future.

    Sigh.

Here’s are the most similar quarterbacks to Osweiler at age 26, since 1978:
That’s ugly. Jake Plummer is the best of the bunch, and Plummer had some better seasons before a rough 2000 season, and had established himself as a starter in Arizona. Ryan Fitzpatrick started the most games of the group. The average is 23.8 more games started in their NFL career, and the median much lower (only 40% started another 16 games). Only 13% of them started 8+ games in at least 4 more season, and only 13% made a single pro bowl.

It's kind of missing the whole rick mirer was a full time starter at 23,24,25 as to this is Brocks first 17 starts. The correct analysis would put performances of X quarterbacks in their first 17 starts under fire.

"They feel he has no mobility, can't throw well while under pressure, and while his arm is decent, he doesn't blow them away."

Sounds like just what the team needs.

    His ceiling is Ryan Fitzpatrick.

    And even that is unlikely.

Meh... the Texans will just sign Matt Barkley to "battle fight" Osweiler and call it a day.

    Through first 20 starts...

    Player A: 5-15, 34 TD, 32 INT, 4924 yds, 57.4 comp pct
    Player B: 12-8, 24 TD, 20 INT, 4623 yds, 60.5 comp pct

    Peyton Manning

    Brock Osweiler

No, I am not saying he will be Peyton Manning. And no, he wasnt quite as good in yards or TDs, but saying his ceiling is Fitzpatrick is ignorant and a knee-jerk...

You're right, it's an insult to Fitzpatrick.

Sure, but consider the source. Sometimes "ignorant and a knee-jerk" is basically just what some posters do.

Before this season, in the last two years Fitzpatrick passed for 48 TDs and 23 INTs between the Texans/Jets. I would take that from Brock any day. He isn't close right now.

Man, I really thought that was a good showing that it might be a little too early to judge. Again, I am not saying he will be Peyton Manning, but with a comparable first 20 starts to Peyton Manning, I think it should be fair to say he could be better than Fitzy.

So during Fitzpatrick's 7th season he finally got goin? In his first 20 starts he had 12 TDs and 17 INTs 2200 yds and went 5-15.. Trying not to support Brock, I think he is playing terrible. But yalls comparisons are so far off.

EDIT, Bobby is right that was his 7th Full season so not 10th or 11th..

Sure, but right now Osweiler isn't a veteran player in his 7th full season as a starter. He's in his first full season as a starter. Fitz's first stint as a starter only lasted 3 games and he managed 8 interceptions. His first full season as a starter wasn't much better....or even as good as Osweiler has been this season.

Maybe he is just a bust, but I still think it's only fair to give him a shot next season with the team he was supposed to have this year. I mean, he's going to get it anyway, so what's the point of b****ing and moaning about it?

    Different era.

In comparison to current rookie QBs or 5th year QBs or however people slice it up to make Brock look better, he's been bad.

In his 6th year, Fitz had 3,000 yards, 23 TD, 15 INT, and 81.8 QBRating.

I don't see Osweiler getting anywhere close to that next year.

It depends on how good the Texans will be outside of the QB position. There are some scouts that think our offensive line is likely to take a giant step forward. If the Texans make the decision that they have an elite defense, a good to very good offensive line and skilled players in the passing game.... then they should strongly consider getting another QB that works well in those confines. There are going to be a number of QB options available. If they can address the position in those circumstances, then they should. It would be shocking if Osweiler suddenly clicks, he has been in the league for 5 years now, and the mistakes he is making are not ones easily fixable IMO.

If Brock plays like trash he deserves to be criticized for playing like trash. I'm sure Brock's feelings won't be hurt.

The smart thing to do right now would be to hedge your bets and continue QB searching. I mean the Patriots drafted Garoppollo and Brissett even though they have a GOAT QB. The Texans shouldn't rule out trying to find a QB just because Brock is here. If Brock continues to suck next year the Texans will have wasted one year and probably at least 2 more years finding a QB, at that point our competitive window might be closed. I still would like to see what we have out of Savage but that doesn't seem like it will ever happen.
