Making people aware of how these hacks happened is the first step in increasing security.

More importantly as far as Russia's offense and the correct reaction to continue or increase sanctions to Russia, why does it matter whether the hostile action they carried out was easy or hard for them to do? That has nothing to do with the fact that a foreign nation to these actions against the United States. You are still defending Russia, and not defending the U.S.

"It’s almost as if people in the intelligence community are carrying out a disinformation campaign against the President-elect of the United States," observed Rep. Peter King (R-NY) during an interview with Megyn Kelly yesterday (video at the link).

What is interesting is that the CIA has been leaking this information to the press, but they have refused to testify about it before a House oversight committee, as they are legally required to do. At the same time, they are leaking information about information leaked from the DNC during the campaign. If leaking is as bad as the Democrats are saying it is, then presumably this leaking by the CIA is bad too and people need to be held accountable for that.

We need to remember through all of this that the CIA is a part of the Obama administration for another five weeks. Also, as we know from many previous examples, Obama and his crew have no qualms about using these agencies for promoting their self-serving political agendas, even when they are at odds with the constitution and the law.

Fortunately, Obama is gone on January 19th, 2017 and a Senate investigation of this matter is already in the works. With the Republican Trump administration presumably being willing to provide full cooperation with Congress on matters like this, it will be interesting to see what we learn that currently differs from the current narrative being so aggressively promoted by Obama, the DNC and the leftist media.

Hostile actions are actions that are intentionally against a nation. They can be military, economic, technological, or many other ways.

You STILL dont know how the hacked happened. Podesta forwarded the phish to his IT, who in turned (allegedly) stated that he put a typo in his email stating the phish was 'legitimate' when instead he meant 'illegitimate' .

Because if you understood the scam, ANYONE could have done it. As I stated, this was not some complex attack.

Do you have email? Do you not get the phishing scams that say things like 'Your [insert the endless names of institutes] has been compromised and you need to change your password'? News flash! Those scams come from all over the world and from many large organized criminal organizations.
The only evidence we have is the CIA stating they "believe" Putin was behind it. In other words, there is no credible evidence Putin was behind the attacks.

Since you are absolutely clueless on how the compromise happened in the first place, I can assume you are just as clueless on the evidence the CIA has. You are instead quoting your favorite biased new site that probably also colluded with the same DNC.

Before suggesting we should induce further sanctions that could cause wars and conflicts, research and learn the facts.

Except the CIA has provided their assessment (concluded that Russia tried to tip the election to Trump based on new evidences since the election) to government officials. Your take is CIA can't be trusted without them going public with that info and the evidences they used. Your take is based on a basic failure of understanding of how CIA and our intel agencies work. CIA secret assessments and other intel aren't public domain, they are secrets of the government and only those with proper clearance can see them.

Your take that this is gospel is based on lack of facts and understanding. CIA assessment is not anonymous - it's done by CIA personnel to government officials. Folks in government, on both sides of the political spectrum, have seen them and are going to do review, inquiries and investigation into this. They certainly wouldn't waste time doing these things, especially on a sensitive topic like this in a bipartisan effort for some gospel.

Your take that the government should acts (immediately) if this is something solid is a fair point, but what kind of acts do you expect them to do? Do you expect that Obama order so retaliation immediately? If Obama was to ordered some retaliation, he would need some Congressional buy-in first. So how should they act? Well, Obama called for a full review and provide the reports to all stakeholder (Congress included). Congress is doing their inquiries and investigations. Those are all reasonable actions at this point in time. What further actions, including retaliations if any, will be based on result of these actions. So you can see, they are serious and are acting. And again, they are serious and are acting exactly because this isn't some gospel, but because it is a CIA assessment.

Again, this shouldn't be something that is political. It is not about Clinton, DNC, Trump, Republican or Democrats. It is about Russia not just interfering but trying to sway the election to one candidate. We need to take that serious and good thing our government is. Imagine where we don't--- we would then essentially tell the world, come on in and pick our next President. How do we feel if 2020 come, election happen and this time, China interfered to sway the election to a candidate that they want. If I'm China and I see the US political system and public is so split that they don't care about external government interfering, I would put in much effort to sway the election toward someone not Trump. As horrible as Trump is to me, I wouldn't want China doing that.

Oh yeah, keep saying I'm clueless on this while nothing you've posted points to anything I've typed being inaccurate.

You are free not to accept the evidence, to not believe the intelligence agencies and the intelligence community as a whole if you wish. You are free to try and deny it and defend Putin and Russia.

But I'm the one that's clueless. Keep it up.

You sure do make a lot of assumption about the CIA, you work there? If they have mountain of evidence why aren't they ready to go to a CLOSED house intelligence committee to present this, yet they are happily giving their "assessment" out to the media "anonymously". Oh and conveniently the next committee meeting will be after the electors vote.

Let's be honest, you can't make sense of a single thing the CIA is doing, and neither can anyone else. And pretending like this isn't political followed by "if we don't look at this we are allowing the world to pick our president", that's pretty rich.

Who is saying the Russians and Republicans were working together to undermine Hillary? I certainly don't believe that. But here you are spouting off that the CIA might be working covertly with the Obama administration to undermine Trump and the President Elect himself has even stated such. Seriously, everything is a GD conspiracy with Trump and his blind followers. "The election is rigged! The media is rigged! The debates are rigged! Voter fraud! The CIA and FBI are in the tank for Hillary!" You can't even see it because you are so blinded by your partisanship and bias, its pathetic.

The Democrat left is pushing a conspiracy theory that the Russians tried to undermine the inevitable election of Hillary Clinton as president. She didn't win, so that proves there is something nefarious going on here, right?

They have also been insisting that Trump's unwillingness to behave like an asinine fool in his dealings with Putin and the Russians the way that Obama has been is an indication that he is too close to Putin and will not stand up to the Russians. Oh, and Rex Tillerson, who received an award from Putin, that supposedly proves it too.

You guys are the ones that started the conspiracy theory stuff here. The CIA is apparently out leaking unsourced claims to the press about this. This is your information source. Congress has called the CIA to come in and testify about these Russian hacking and election tampering assertions, but the Obama-led CIA has actually refused, even though they are required by law to do so.

If these charges and the information supporting them is as compelling as you appear ready to believe that they are, then why would the CIA be refusing to testify about it before a CLOSED congressional oversight hearing on the subject?

Unless I am mistaken, you will now respond with Democrat left's standard lie, deflect or deny response. So which of these three will it be this time?

The CIA has apparently reached the conclusion that Russia is responsible for the hacks and the airing of the Democrats dirty laundry, I have no reason to believe otherwise at this point. People can believe whether or not this had an impact on the outcome of the election but there is really no way to prove it one way or the other so it's a futile exercise to even argue over IMO. But both sides will do their speculating nonetheless because, well, politics. I believe the top intelligence agency in our country when they say that the Russians tried to influence the outcome of our election while you believe that it's a massive conspiracy by the White House and the CIA to undermine Trump. Who sounds more reasonable?

Except that the Obama-led CIA will not even take ownership of these leaked "conclusions" before a closed Congressional oversight hearing.

    Talk about, well, politics.

His argument is that Trump benefitted from the leaks, which he surely did, it's just impossible to say whether that actually affected the outcome of the election. There is video evidence of Trump telling Russia to hack his opponent though, do you deny that? I find that to be very different than a claim that Russia and the Republicans were directly working together, however.

So now you are posting evidence proving that even the White House is pushing this conspiracy theory.

So this is the evidence that it's a vast left wing conspiracy?

Well no one is more butt hurt about the election not going his way than the president. It ensures his SCOTUS nominee will never see the light of day and basically the only bill he got passed will be vetoed almost immediately along with a good deal of his executive orders being overturned. Him being salty and pushing the narrative of the new birthers is no shock.

Huh? Your claim that the White house is pushing a conspiracy that the Republicans and Russia were colluding to defeat Hillary is far from a claim by the White House that Trump knew what Russia was doing and benefited from it.
