Rockets are now second in the league in assist per game while being 10th in pace.

Third overall in assist per possession.

Rockets improvement is happening much faster than I expected it too.

Last 5 games, Rockets have been number one in assist per game.

If they can get to the 10-12 range defensively and maintain their improvement via ball movement then you are looking at a full fledged title contender.

now see, if I were @DreamShook , this is what I'd be superstitious about. talking about "full fledged title contender" is scary jinxy. So I'll fix it for you:

Our stats are getting better as our quality of competition is going down. It's not crazy surprising, but at least we're taking care of business.

Steve Kerr is the first coach I can remember who waged a full-on war against the point differential and made it his life goal to beat teams by 20, 30, 40, 50, whatever it took. Although come to think of it now, Rick Carlisle was doing the same thing when the Mavs were winning.

But yeah the old school coaches (McHale, JVG, even Popovich to a lesser extent) would have called off the dogs long ago. Now it's all about winning every possession, even with benchwarmers vs benchwarmers. Those peripheral stats matter, it turns out.

The Assist Stat is my number one statistic to follow.

GSW is number one at 31 a game.

    Rockets second at 26.

Have a ways to go to catch up.

not worried about pels. or timberwolves for that matter.

if we make our shots then harden gets lots of rest.

Timberwolves/Pelicans playing better narrative is strange.

They are both 2-8 in their last 10.

It wouldn't have been right to set the record against this team, sitting three of their starters. Setting it against Mark Jackson's full strength Warriors would have been sweet, but he went all bush-league on us to prevent us from doing it.

I wish Cousins would have played last night.

I've always enjoyed the tantrums the kid throws against us when we whoop that ass.

I think the Rockets have learned their lesson recently.

The kings broadcasters have always shown love to Houston for about 3-4 years now. They're pretty impartial. Kinda feel bad for them.

Anyone notice that in the +/- relationship, the negative is always on the bottom.
