Resting Players!?

well clearly we're resting DMo . . . holding him in reserve for the playoffs. Which is a smart move when you think about it.

Sucks for fans on games where it happens, but ultimately it's a legitimate strategy. If the NBA does something about that, they might as well lessen the amount of games each season as ultimately players will just have higher chances of injuries and burnout. It's either that or less practices.

 

I'm not a fan of it, but I don't care that much. As my fandom has evolved, I have become less about watching other players play and more about watching the Rockets team. If Harden sat out for rest I would still set aside time to watch the Rockets play.

If the Rockets had the luxury of resting players not named Nene, better believe they would be doing it too.

 

Actually, yes. I think the NBA needs to find a way to shorten the preseason, maybe to just two games. They could then start the season around October 20th and eliminate many back to backs.

 

Demarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay are resting tonight. I like it!

 

I thought it was strange of them to rest the entire big 3 as opposed to 1 or 2. The league won't step in because it won't get to the point where teams are risking key games down the stretch because a player needs rest.

If this will be more common in the league, they should be required to provide the dates when they have scheduled rest days for players at the beginning of the season. This is the only way that they will be able to tell the effects of this strategy when it comes to the fan base.

Grizzlies fans should be happy about it.
Without james,kyrie and love i dont see a way that the cavs win. Just be happy that the opponents rest their players so you can see your team win. I can tell you, if i was at the rockets game tonight, i would love to see that cousins and gay are not playing.

 

If teams are going to rest players, why not do it in games that aren't national televised?!

 

The NBA is addressing this somewhat next year by starting the season earlier, thus limiting the amount of Back-to-Backs.
