I'd trade Brewer and Ennis if we could get back a distributor for the mins harden isn't in the game and for injury insurance. The rest of the youngins I like. Maybe KJ seeing as all our coaches don't want to play him

This thread makes sense for rest and injury potential. If completely healthy, through a playoff run, we're "ok"... still not great, but ok.

But I do think the point that our lineup that gets consistent playing time right now is:

    PBev
    Harden
    Ariza
    Ryno
    Clint
    Gordon
    Nene
    Dekkar
    Harrell

If DMo squeezes in there that's fine, but it is frontcourt heavy off the bench in either case.

Dekkar has played the vast majority of his minutes so far at PF. Which doesn't mean he can't be a successful SF, too, just something to really consider.

OP is right that itd be nice to have another backcourt player you can somewhat count on to come off the bench. Posters are right to note that of the guys you can get, do you really want to give up Dekkar or Harrell at this point? Rather not.

A few years back DM just pulled a rabbit out of his hat and signed a guy mid-season named PBev that was playing overseas. Guy has been our starting PG (for better/worse) for 2+ years now.

This is the perfect time for him to do something like that again.

If we weren't focused on defense at all, we could be that team to finally give Pierre Jackson an NBA shot. Just small small at 5'11, but has been a prolific (and decently efficienct) scorer everywhere he's been - college, d-league, overseas. He signed with the Texas Legends and has played 4 games since returning from overseas and once again putting up buckets.

One other thing I'd like to point out that I'm not on board with is this idea of trading Harrell to upgrade at another bench position. If I'm Morey, I hold on to Capela, Dekker and Harrell for the foreseeable future. You still don't know exactly what you have in those guys, and if you sell low on them while they're still infants in this league, you might be moving a guy that could be a stud in 3-4 years.

Now, if these guys were a part of deals to bring in a star player, obviously I'd be on board with that. But I wouldn't deal a young budding rotational player for an aging rotational guy like Bellinelli, especially when DMo's back is still a huge question mark and Nene could be gone in a few months. If the Rockets have to pick between trading Harrell or Dekker for a backup PG or scoring wing or staying pat and waiting to address the problem next summer, I'd much rather they just wait until next summer.

I think we need to temper our expectations as to who is reasonably obtainable. Gary Harris is going to have a high price tag. Denver played him over Barton down the stretch last year.

Jrue might be obtainable but NOP is going to ask for multiple 2nd rounders or a 1st. I also don't see how having another ball-dominant guard is going to help our offense when it is already clicking. Sergio Rodriguez might be OK but he's not exactly lighting Philly on fire.

What do you guys think about Ingles? He's buried on the bench and he's been reasonably good in limited minutes. He's also been shooting really well. I think defensively he's not great, but if you're asking for a bench wing and your price tag is a KJ McD or someone similar, why not?

I think we could use a JJ Barea/Patty Mills type spark off the bench. Really wish we invested that measly $3 mil to get Seth Curry.

Why? He's shooting 31% from 3 and hasn't moved the needle at all despite playing time.

Yeah cause he's in a cancerous situation. We all know he's a much better shooter than that. Our boy Ryno was shooting in the 30's before he came here too ya know.

I think our best hope is that KJ can get out of the doghouse and improve himself. All he's gotta be able to do is learn the team defensive scheme and become an acceptable 3 point shooter . He's actually shown that when he's set up nicely the shot looks good .

Our second unit doesn't have to play the same style as the first . If Gordon doesn't have it going in sure d'antoni can devise a system that utilizes dmo's and nenes exceptional passing from the big positions as well as Dekker and Gordon's athleticism .

That's a reasonable explanation but another might be that if you ask too much of him that his shooting suffers drastically?

Funny as it might sound... brewer+filler and maybe the Denver 2nd rounder is going to get traded for gay or chandler before the deadline. Heard it here first. Just watch.

Could be. Either way that wouldn't be an issue for him had he signed with us.

Don't think he would be the game changer we need next to harden

Nah certainly DONT waive Onuaku who is doing great in the D-Leage, he's a trade piece now

Ennis is the next waiver player even if he costs more. A straight cut Ennis sign minimum PG seems more likely.

All those premium guys Holliday, Lou Williams, Tyreke, those are EXPENSIVE 4TH guards who'd command playing time and become luxuries. Unless you mean they become the 3RD guard and make Beverley into the 4th guard. Gordon deserves his 30 minutes and don't see Bev turning into a spot minute specialist though he'd excel at it.

A cheap 3rd/4th guard that's decent not doodoo could be enough as a "depth" piece. Someone to slide in to divide up 95-100 guard minutes and preserve legs like

    Harden 32, Gordon 28, Bev 20, 4th guard 15
    With rotation of
    Harden/ Gordon/ Bev/ 4th guard-wing
    Ariza / Dekker
    Anderson / D-Mo
    Capela / Nene / (D-Mo)

Harrell, KJ, Brewer either the 11th man or dealt. Now all of a sudden you're thin at SF/wing if you deal Brewer, KJ or both lol

DO agree the DROPOFF of PLAYMAKER guard is BAD after the 3 guards. This team depends too much on guard play for creating, so gotta shore that spot up. Besides needing a long strong post defender/rebounder, after that this team gets upgraded by moving out STARTERS for STAR players. Unless you get one in free agency, don't fall TOO in love with these rotation guys then.

Another versatile defender who can defend PGs like Ariza. Probably have to give up Ariza to get him but if the Rockets had both that's a great tag team.
