This team will never win anything with Brock Osweiler at QB!

Which is why I did this to my original "if": IF

Asking a starting QB in the NFL to complete 60-ish% of his passes, not turn the ball over and toss a TD or 2 is an EXTREMELY low bar.

That's part of it, I'm sure. Also, frankly, he was in a better system for QBs. People here grew tired of it - but Kubiak's system is just a juggernaut; very nearly fail-proof.

I wouldn't necessarily go that far. The problem with Kubiak is that if a team knows how to stop it and is equipped to do so, he's not going to do anything different. He's going to do things one way whether is works or not. And if it's not working, you're screwed because he can't do anything else.

I think it comes down to the QB and what system they're better suited for. Somebody like Brady obviously benefits from an O'Brien type system. I'm sure Manning would've too. It gave Fitzpatrick and Hoyer their best years. Some QB's do well with more responsibility and flexibility and a changing gameplan aimed at taking advantage of opponents weaknesses. But other QBs are better suited to having things simplified and some of the decision making taken out of their hands. No audibles, no receivers running different routes based on how the see the defense line up. Just here's the play, run it exactly as designed regardless of what the defense is doing.

I think Osweiler falls into the latter category. I don't think he can deal with the added responsibility he has here and is better suited to just being told what to do and having some of the decision making taken out of his hands.

Say what you want about him...but he's the first Texans qb to beat Indy twice in a season. Heck...he might be the first Texans qb to beat Indy twice period.

    Maybe re-title this thread:

This team will win in spite of Brock Osweiler at QB!

Thats all well and good until you look at the Y/A and the TD/INT ratio. Ill take a QB with a similar completion percentage with a markedly higher Y/A + 2/1 Ratio of TD to INT all day.

Brock's not bad, the bar for quarterback play is just slowly descending. Brock's thrown fumble is now only the 2nd worst QB pass attempt this season.

Pat also tweeted how the run blocking is better when Allen sits.

Kubiak's offensive skills can't be denied. His success spans more than just DEN and HOU too. I think he's more suited as a coordinator, but he won as an HC. Props to him.

Yeah; there's this idea - it started here and has followed him - that Kubiak's system was solved. No. Matt Schaub was solved; but the system remains nearly unstoppable when it's being executed by elite talent. And even with less-than-elite talent, it's still formidable.

Jaguars Blake Bortles & Texans Brock Osweiler are the only QBs with 200+ attempts who have not had at least one game day QBRating of 100+

But Brock is the only QB in the NFL with a bad O-Line, receivers that drop passes, and a defense that can't hold teams under 20!
