I was only basing it on that report, but you're right, the Rockets could do those things. I was just confused on why the agent would tell him not to report when they had no leverage. Maybe the agent is willing to get him a better contract even if it mean sitting out this year...who knows? The best thing for the Rockets is to trade him for picks or something. I don't want a player with a bad attitude on the team.

You can not trade a contract when you do not have a contract.

Sign and trade if that is possible assuming another team wants him(and he agrees) in the coming days or weeks, etc.

SnTs no longer allowed once the season begins. However, you can sign and trade him after the year ends, if he this offer sheet does not execute.

The agent has no leverage, he his trying to save face by leveraging Dmo's year. I still don't see where this is a Rockets issue when the agent is not being a good agent and doesn't understand the rules. He shouldn't have negotiated incentives with the Nets, if he is a RFA signing a low offer that the Rockets have to match.

Well that shuts up DD and his Rockets being cheap BS.

HeyP, it's real cool that you been on top of things this season. On top of that, I keep seeing multiple things being asked over and over in every single thread that have been repeated countless times, but you still take the time to respond and not be smug about it. Really cool of you.

It doesn't mean the Rockets aren't cheap, it means Portland is too....

And Morey already said he would honor the 6m in incentives if DMo would move the 2nd year guarantee to July.

I didn't listen to the interview, but per Heyp's post, they said that is the norm, so I guess all teams are cheap. My thoughts are that most agents are well aware of the rules and make an effort to negotiate the actual amount their client wants (or is worth) and any bonus on top of that is the cherry on top in case the other team does not match. Like we have all been saying, BJ is looking like a fool here since it does not seem he was aware of the rules.

That has never been in doubt, while everyone is talking about that I am talking about how to resolve it.

You're beginning to enter BBH territory, just admit when you've been proven wrong.

Dmo needs to fire BJ and just show up. I know people keep saying that this is going to negatively affect the Rockets, but most reports out there appear to side with the Rockets. Players will be players, they need to support each other, but most players appear to have smart agents. Morey's solution appears fair to me. It's no secret how the Rockets operate, BJ tried to pull a fast one but screwed his client instead.

Sorry I must have missed it but where was it reported that Morey agreed verbally to honor the incentives if he moves back the 2nd year guarantee?

And just stop it with the cheap stuff again please. If the IRS sent you a letter with a deduction code that allowed you deduct 10K from your taxes I'm sure you'd do it even though the taxes might go to pay for schools, roads, etc. Les isn't running a charity for underprivileged NBA stars.

Also there will be massive pressure from the league and other teams for the Rockets to NOT let themselves be made an example of here by being strong armed after agent/player mistakes of ignorance. It will set poor precedent moving forward that other teams are surely taking note of, and communicating to the league and the Rockets about I'm sure. Especially teams like the Knicks that have to deal with BJ and Derrick Rose this Summer.

If the Rockets don't have to pay D-Mo the incentives (which FYI are reported as "unlikely" anyways) than why would they? No other team would, and I dare you to find me 3 examples of teams that have done so. BJ should have noticed this and reported it to D-Mo before signing the offer letter from the Nets. Why should the Rockets pay for their mistake? So unless you can find examples of how it is normal to charity pay NBA players like this because of their own ignorance in basic NBA contracts, I think your spewing hot air at Les & Morey again for the sake of it.

Its not completely ethical but one way to resolve it would be for another agency to come in and steal Motiejunas away and be able to expedite a creative deal where everyone wins. No way deals with BJ in good faith on a new contract at this point so it would have to be a more competent agent that Morey has a good working relationship with. Maybe Andy Miller who worked with Morey on the original Asik poison pill contract.

maybe if DD hadn't gone on his "not one dime" "won't support this team" rant/charade/useless/senseless/baseless/illogicalseriesofpoststhatfloodsthebbsandmakesitunreadable - les would have enough money to pick up the incentives that no other team would pick up
