It makes almost too perfect sense, but I refuse to get excited yet. "You can't play in the man's game, you can't close them - go home and tell your wife your troubles. Because only one thing counts in this life: Get them to sign on the line which is dotted." -- Blake
Jeff very high...on Houston. Houston continues to look for a front-of-the-rotation type as well. Nothing new there. It's really the only thing Astros are missing now. Astros are set up so well. Best lineup in the AL. Lockdown pen with Giles, Feliz, Devenski, Harris. Right there with Boston as AL favorites. - Jeff Passan
No idea on the first. Rogers was with the Chicago Tribune for a long time before he joined mlb.com a few years ago. He's said several/many dumb opinions in the past but you have to think he knows Chicago baseball people.
This trade is going to hurt. The Astros will probably trade away two top five prospects plus some other high ceiling, low floor prospects.
I'm okay with that. Since they passed on EE they still have their first rounder in June and enough lottery tickets in the low minors that a couple are likely to hit in the next few years. The MLB team is also pretty young so you don't NEED a lot of minor league talent to break into the majors for 2-3 years. It would be nice obviously but there is very little 25 man roster space this year and next.
