Just give him the 6m only if he agrees to the physical. If he still refuses to report, then we'll know his intentions.

I'm just sick of this. He better be in good ****ing shape after all of this b****ing and moaning.

**** that. We don't even need him with the way Harrell is playing. He's purely a luxury, insurance for a major injury to Anderson or Nene. You don't establish this kind of precedent for someone so insignificant.

BJ tried to pull a fast one, by putting in matching incentives and other things to make it difficult, unfortunately, he did not understand the CBA completely as to what is REQUIRED as incentives to match.

He royally screwed up, Dmo thought he signed for 37m over 4 years, with 4m of likely incentives and 2m of unlikely - when the Rockets matched they did not have to LEGALLY match those incentives as per the CBA.

Thus, Morey matched for 4 years and 31m, and DMo was like...WTF????

And BJ and DMo are trying to get Morey to match, and Morey is saying "Sure" move the March 1st year 2 guarantee to July and you have a deal.

That is where we stand, and probably where we will settle.....and I expect the Rocks to maybe give him a little more $$ in order to move the date...as a measure of good will.

No. He's not. He only started pretending to be one a couple days ago.

The SMART fans are realizing that the only way this settles that HELPS THE TEAM, is to have a happy Dmo under contract.

Because losing him for nothing hurts the team, letting NJ have him hurts the team, not having him as a tradeable asset in the future hurts the team.

So, some of us are taking the SMART view and want this resolved amicably, while the short-sighted ones are looking at this from a passion standpoint.

It is not about balls - it is about getting the ROCKETS in a stronger position. Having DMO makes the team better, even if he is just insurance.....

How quickly and harshly would we be criticizing and ridiculing Morey if he added an extra $6 mil to the offer (unnecessarily) just to bring him back...only to have D-Mo return and either (a) re-injure his twice-repaired back or (b) deliver a mediocre performance for a role-player?

LOL - it is not superiority.

Please someone explain to me a scenario that SOLVES this situation and makes the team BETTER that does not involve Morey and DMo resolving this.

Not at all if it was in the form of incentives.

Not according to CBA expert Larry Coon:

"The rules for restricted free agency say that when a team issues a first refusal exercise notice, the player and team '…shall be deemed to have entered into a Player Contract.' Motiejunas is, for all intents and purposes, under contract with the Rockets now."

    Sorry.

From what I read in another thread, the offer sheet will be expire on March 1, 2017 if the Rockets don't rescind the matching.
So he can show up on that day and takes the physical.

The 48 hour period only refer to: if he didn't report within the deadline (1) gives the Rockets the option of withdrawing its first refusal exercise notice. (2) the Rockets have all the rules related to player discipline for failure to report at their disposal

If Dmo still not reports after March 1, he will become RFA. However, no team can offer him another offer sheet after that day.
And he can only sign with the Rockets.

Yesterday it was reported that as a measure of the matching Houston was requiring a physical - so not sure if Coon is right here.

Been trying to find out why Houston would not just wave that physical then? I think there might be some truth to having to take one to complete the transaction.

I think Bj gets fired. Bobby Marks was like the player or the agent should have known better.
Dmo does not know better it is the Bj's job or there in house CBA expert to know what the hell is going on.

Dmo needs to get with Rob Pelinka. Dmo will get better treatment if he is repped by James Harden's agent.

I just got home from work so forgive me for asking a question that I am sure has been answered already . I didn't feel like sifting through all the Dmo threads and searching for an answer and definitely didn't want to make another Dmo thread hehe.

This difference of 6 million in incentives that the Rockets didn't match is basically lost dollars for Dmo even if he plays under this matched contract and plays well enough to meet the incentives?
