More conspiracy theories. I'm going to match a contract but take away the incentives and force you to take another physical because I have that right.

    Goes both ways.

Showing up for another physical is not going to prove Detroit wrong. Obviously when Morey traded him Morey didn't feel he was damaged goods, did he? And he sure didn't tell SVG he was damaged goods, did he? Now he might be damaged goods? This is DMo's perspective.

So the Rockets are in the wrong for.......doing what they're allowed to do? Because DMo signed a deal that allowed them to do so?

Ugh. Screw Morey and his abiding by the CBA...

Glad that Tinman posted this. I needed a quick summary of what's happened with this situation up to this point.

What are Dmo and Armstrong using to determine his value? How are they so off? He went the whole offseason without a single legit suitor. Then finally gets an offer after 1/4 of the season has already passed. And to top it off, the offer that he gets can potentially be a THREE MONTH DEAL!

You're an average at best NBA big with injury concerns. Know your worth Dmo.

Would it prove that the Detroit medical exam was wrong then? No it wouldn't.

But would a passed physical exam, along with him finally getting on the court and playing, go a long way to proving that he is healthy now? Yes. Absolutely yes. Regardless of what happened in Detroit.

How is him taking a physical a bad thing?

I'm fairly healthy. If an employer told me that I needed to go take a physical, I might not like it because it takes time out of my day and it's always kind of awkward, but I wouldn't care. How is that a problem? Unless he is worried they will find something?

Didn't say Rockets were in the wrong. They're exercising their rights and using the CBA as most advantageously as possible.

    So is BJ.

If you ignore the fact that that literally nobody else, including Larry Coon himself, thinks BJ Armstrong is using the CBA advantageously and sensibly, then yeah, sure, he's definitely using it very advantageously and sensibly.

No, it wouldn't. It's like DMo said. And I am with him in this point. There is no uniformity to physicals. The pass/fail is arbitrary. Passing a teams physical simply means they deem him in good enough health to validate what they pay him.

And DMo genuinely feels like he's been screwed here.

does BJ know that only the primary offer and not the incentives?

if he knew it, then why didn't he work hard with the Nets to maximize the primary offer and minimize the incentives?

did he explain to DMo all this?

also Nets FO stupid too they made the primary offer small enough for Morey to easily match

Ok. So let's say the Rockets fail him on the physical like Detroit did. Buyers remorse. They think he's going to eat the $5 million and he's going to lay down on them, be a locker room problem, etc. So they want out. So they flunk him on the physical. Then he goes to the Nets and they decide to release him because they can and something else has come up and they want his cap space back for the summer. So they release him. Now he's got 8.5 million but he's facing another even lower (probably minimum at that point) contract to prove it all over again. Understand? It's not just this contract that they are dealing with. It's the opportunity for a bigger payday in a couple years instead of minimum salary and permanent lower tier rule player status.

Coon is missing the intricacies here. It's about future earnings power by getting as close to a guaranteed role as possible and not being on the prove it to me roller coaster.

as @Tha_Dude might put it, there's a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-you's. A lotta strands to keep in his head, man. A lotta strands in the old Cooner's head.

Question - If the rockets decide to keep Montiejunas and just wait for him to show up for his physical AND IF Montiejunas eventually shows up, would this existing contract be prorated at all or would the original $ terms still be in place despite him continuing to miss time?

Shouldn't he have just signed the QO then?

You don't think BJ worked to maximize both the primary offer and the incentives?

Yes, I think BJ explained all the detail of this offer to DMo very thoroughly.

I don't know how smart or stupid the Nets (Marks) are at this time.

Lol, what are you talking about?

The deal that he signed is what may potentially prevent all the things that you listed from happening.
