The UK pays the EU £55 million/day. They get back much less than that in the form of subsidies. He may as well take advantage of it than the money going to some of the EU's insane projects. Any suggestions that Nigel's just doing it for the money is just insane. The guy's probably suffered the most of anyone who's tried to fight for a cause in modern times short of the people who've made the ultimate sacrifice. He's had stuff thrown at him, physically assaulted on public, harassed with his family, and had his car sabotaged. He can't go out in public without security. The money he's getting is chump change compared to that.
I wouldn't say it's that overly hypocritical. I don't think modern NBA rules are good for basketball, but I still watch the game. I guess I'm Nigel Farage. I think the UFC are cheating their fighters out of a lot of money, I still buy tickets to see the UFC. I'm a horrible horrible person. How can I possibly be so vocal against companies that I voluntarily pay money to and for which in the end feel entertained?
Screwing up the UK and running away wasn't enough for the guy. He's decided to **** around with our country, as well.
Nigel Farage has made the shortlist for Time magazine's 'Person of the Year'. First of all, Angela Merkel for last year's person of the year? {insert facepalm here} Nigel Farage has to be the winner this year, or what little credibility that Time Magazine has left is gone. The award is not for which world figure who comports with the political narrative that Time magazine supports was most impactful on the world this year, it is who is most impactful and influential in a way that has changed the world, for better or for worse. Nobody else this year has been as influential or impactful on the world than Nigel Farage. Without the leadership he provided, there would have been no Brexit vote taken, much less would the Leave side have won. The ripples of that impact are still being felt around the world to this day and will continue to be for years to come. While some of you would portray Farage as a villain for his role in disrupting the status quo and for upsetting the EU establishment collective globalist order, I regard him as the most notable political hero alive on Earth at this time. Just at a time when it all seemed at times nearly ready to go dark, once and for all, Farage lit a torch and led the charge that helped turned things away from the precipice, if only for a while. Nigel Farage is the only candidate on that list that is worthy of this accolade this year. None of the rest even hold a candle to him. Simone Biles, indeed.
@MojoMan I've just heard. Putin's also on the shortlist, I think. He can actually compete, especially considering the escalated situation in Syria but, nah, Nigel's work with Brexit and help with Trump all the way.
Looks like Person of the Year went to Donald Trump. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-time-idUSKBN13W1HO
What a circus. Farage actually delivered massive change. So far all Trump has done is upset the delusional expectations of the Democrat left that post-Obama they would rule the US forever with no threat of opposition to concern them. In fact, this reminds me of Obama's Nobel Peace Prize quite a bit, in that it was awarded based on the emotional anticipation of what he was going to do, not based on any actual achievements. The awarding of these prizes based on how people feel is really inappropriate and not very smart. Apparently that is how these sorts of leftist organizations do these sorts of things now, if these two awards are any indication.
You are looking too much into it I think. Time Person of the year has been given to numerous US Presidents. Obama, Bush (both of them) , Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Nixon...so on and so on. It is just an award for the most influential person of the year, the US president has a lot of influence in the world so if you are elected president you usually win the 'award'. And it's not an award, it's just a simple recognition that this person had a ton of influence in the world. After all Hitler was named the Time Person of The Year too. My guess...the 2020 TIME person of the year will be the next president-elect. Seriously, look at the history of the 'award' and see. It's like clockwork.
Give Trump credit. The arguments weren't all Nigel's, Trump did a lot of work himself, spent his own money, and is now the most powerful man in the world. Brexit hasn't even happened yet. But Nige has a real shot next year, when the process for Brexit starts and no doubt he's going to be campaigning for the eurosceptic groups next year in France and Germany.
