We don't really know what those incentives are. Incentives are by definition not guaranteed. He has to achieve some things to get them. Also, we don't really know if the Rockets have said that they would not match the incentives. These are all speculations.
Errrr asset implies positive surplus value. You definitely throw away albatrosses - like Brewer and Ossweiler - for as close to a zero sum transaction as you can.
I got the other sauce that says DMo's Samsung phone blew up on him. He got all burned up and couldn't do the physical. Besides, he doesn't have a phone to use now, and BJ refuses to lend him his phone because that's his RIGHTS.
Yes also the incentives might/could only be achievable for a player like DMO on a team like the Nets. For example if the incentives are for a having a certain MPG, or a certain PPG, he might only realistically be able to have enough minutes or handles to reach the incentives in a worse team then ours. So depending on what the incentives are, even if we agree to those incentives perhaps its useless to him because he might not be able to achieve them here.
What are the chances ... all of this is reactionary to how well the team is currently doing atm. With the run for post season success seems high, could this be just some ploy to further eek a bit more from the Rockets FO to further add on incentives? Otherwise, if negotiations fall through by end of the day, DMo will just show up tomorrow for Physicals.
We definitely need to play hardball on this one. The rules are the rules, he is a player that has value and the rules are in our favor, there is no reason why we should end up losing a the rights of a valuable player for nothing. His agent should be begging the nets to propose a trade to us, and we have them by the balls. I am a Rockets fan, not a DMO fan, i want the best for my team so thats what i care about and if he doesnt want to be here that is fine, but we need to get something in return because it is our right.
Actually Bobby Marks' and Larry Coon's comments don't say that. All that has happened is Rockets have sent the First Right of Refusal notice to the League. That's all that it takes to lock in DMo at the Nets offer. No "new contract" needs to be written up with Nets "principal terms" yet ... using Bobby Marks terminology. In fact, Coon says nothing needs to be written up until the physical. However, you could be right that Morey said something over a phone call to BJ.
Right, we don't know what the incentives are. Probably a few mil for getting MVP, more $ for making starter in All Star game, more $ for leading the league in rebounds..... No wonder DMo wants those incentives thrown back in.
The Rockets have to send a big FU to his agent and keep his contract, have Dmo sit out doing nothing but eating donuts for 4 years. See what his value is after THAT.

Off topic but BJ was the king of corner threes. I use to like him on the bulls. I wonder if Matt Bullard will say anything. They both played at Iowa in the 80s.
