There's a difference between a job offer and a contract.

And it's still not ok to do, legally. If someone makes an official offer, and you acknowledge + accept it, that's a contract even if you haven't signed an employment contract yet.

 

If he wanted to stay a FA, he shouldn't have signed an offer. It's that simple.

 

If you didn't see this on previous page, Bobby Marks of TheVertical tweeted me a response to Feigen's tweet (quote below). Nutshell, Teams are not obligated to honor offer sheet bonuses of the kind in the contract (individual achievement and league honors), but they usually are.

It's nothing about health issue, contractually. Teams have a Right to honor bonuses or not. JB should have known the Rights of the team.

 

If these decisions have been guided by BJ and this ends on a sour note for DMo, if I'm him I'm lawyering up and suing for breach of fiduciary duty. This is ludicrous.

OMFG - BJ signed a deal that if matched by the Rockets would actually be cheaper? No wonder DMo is pissed off, he lost out on millions by the match, probably did not even KNOW that....BJ should be fired immediately.

Texas is a right to work state where you can work for WHO ever you like...

This is an employee that is working for organization that has a 2 unions and they have a collective bargaining agreement...

D-Mo signed a contract with a team and his original team has matched that contract, so that team has his rights.... Which means he can't sign with another team unless the team with his contract decides to let him go.

You on the other hand work for Company A and Company B, gives you an OFFER and Company decides to match it... The difference here is... You can sign with Company B, C or D with no issue... D-Mo can't do that..

So please explain to me how it's the same...
