You guys mean we need to discipline DMO with more drama b/c we need to send a message to future RFAs not to skip the physical for a higher offer after the initial offer was given and matched. Certain things are so low that setting a negative example is just not necessary. IMHO.
You missed the part where he can be let out of the deal and its in the fine print. ? Remember when the Rockets had Derek Fisher's rights and he refused to show for the physical thereby causing him to be released
It still shows that Morey is willing to publicly discuss player health as a point of leverage in contract discussions
But wasn't the Derrick Fisher thing mutual. Rockets released him so he Could be closer to the doctors who were treating his young child.
I'm not arguing that Morey's actions are unreasonable or unwarranted. What I'm saying is that as a player, I wouldn't want to give Morey medical information, because he will use it as leverage against me in the future
A post in the other thread about this essentially confirms what cyber said. NBA.com reporting the "right"DMo is fighting for is to get released by the Rockets and negotiate with other teams
the fact that we're even mentioning dmo in the same sentence with a POS like fisher just confirms that dmo does not deserve to wear rocket red
Wasn't that from a trade and Fisher was on the books.. I don't think D-Mo is on the books right now, so the only person that is getting hurt is D-Mo.. So why should the Rockets let him go? T_Man
What is the NBA supposed to do? I mean, if they step in and let Dmo out of his contract then what is the point of RFA to begin with, man? Won't all players just do the same thing Dmo is doing?
Exactly, The Rockets own his rights to the contract, just like they would a player they drafted from overseas... D-Mo just screwed himself... If he wanted the contract from Utah he should have signed it... I don't see the Rockets matching that contract. T_Man
The fact that Morey isn't including the "performance bonuses" that BKN offered makes this current standoff a bit more understandable. Is there any way the Rox can alter the contract now? If they have to let him be an RFA again, he'll surely sign the Utah deal.
We should reciprocate the troll by telling Utah to offer a much lesser and annual non guaranteed contract, essentially a more team friendly contract than the Nets one he signed and promise their front office that we will not match; potentially incentivising a better deal and screwing Dmo over.
Not sure if this has been answer in the 15pgsof this thread but is there any tampering with Utah negotiating with a player already under contract? I don't think it changes the outcome of the Dmo situation but this whole circus would be well worth it just to see the j*zz get screwed over.
A lot of strands in old duders head right now. Like, HOW does Utah have a contract ready for Dmo to sign right now? Since, he's already been picked up by the Rockets. How does that work? Seems pretty funky, man.
