Wait, he isn't a Rockets fan like Popeye and Doc Rocket? hmmm. OK. that's weird. So he just bounces around the internet dropping news at a bunch of sites related to their teams? OK. You're right. What allegiance does he have to screwing over the Jazz.... As for asking why he should care to answer the question about timing of this offer He doesn't have to do anything. But by him not saying whether the Utah offer wss before or after the Nets signed offer sheet is an indication that he is actually worried that the NBA does indeed do investigations of tampering, and very well might investigate this case if Les or other owners lodge a formal complaint, which triggers a mandatory League hearing and response. If he knows this is just tampering that the league doesn't care about, then hell, tell us, I'd like to know for funzies. Let's not think so highly of ourselves that you or me could then take that comment and get the league to care, right?
I've been here a long time, and read a lot of your posts as jopat/basketballholic... every day you're more of an insider than the next. Sometimes you're an agent. Sometimes a scout. I think you assume that posters here don't know enough about the things you talk about to know whether or not you're wrong or right. Say it like you mean it, and people will believe it. I can tell you with all certainty, half of the things you post are wrong. The other half not true. I have to admit that I chuckle everytime I read something you write... but mostly because it reminds me of the Eazy E song "Real Muthaphukkin G's". Ain't broke a law in your life, yet every time you rap you yap about the guns and knives.
Some people here are connected to Morey and Les or specific players. That's really as high level as you can get for our franchise. *shrugs*
You know what is more ironic? Terrance Jones. Whose probably one of the worse players last year in the league and what did he do this season? Just suck it up and play for whatever team willing to give him a chance, and it did pay off so far and he did put up numbers even in the sorry NOLA team and it's very likely he will get a decent contract next year if he at least maintain his efficiency. This, is how Dmo should do instead of following his sorry ass agent and of course, your sorry ass advice.
IMO we negotiate with Utah. Whats DMO's worth? A second? 2 seconds? a first? I don't care. Get whatever you can and then allow this Nets contract to void and he hits RFA again, then SnT to Utah for whatever contract they agree upon. Take what you get from Utah and add Houston 1st, send to Denver and grab Gallo.
I've always assumed @cyberx was born and raised in Houston, then moved to LA where he works for a sports agency of some sort. That's why he has a propensity to like the Lakers.....especially when Dr. Buss was still alive. Obviously this is all speculation, and I'm sure he gets a nice chuckle whenever he reads some of the conspiracy theories about himself on here......
He got less guaranteed money, less upside money-making potential, he took a hit to his integrity among GM's and owners, and what he got in exchange was the right not to be traded to a team around as bad/good as the teams who are willing to sign him to an offer sheet. This was never about not being traded by the Rockets. If you are willing to play mid season with the Nets, then which mid season trade are you really worried about? There are MAYBE 2 worse situations than that. If it's about role, why on earth would a player be so insecure as to think they can't beat out a CAREER bench player in Ryno out of major minutes at the 4? or how about a younger starter in Capela at the 5? Or how about 30 minutes available backing up both those spots, which is more than Ryno or Capela get on any given night? This is really bad for D-Mo. There are NOT just TWO options (return him to RFA status or waive physical n let him play). There is another option: Rockets pay $5m upfront and fine him for every game he misses till he does his physical. Rockets don't have to lose a dime and don't have to let him near the team.
Okay, from reading Coon's take, this is what I think what "rights" BJ is talking about. He got Utah to commit to a deal, presumably better than the Nets deal. Notice the Nets deals has these triggers (January and March) where he would be released from the contract. There are two possible scenarios: (1) DMo doesn't want to play for the Rockets and prefers to play for the Nets over the Jazz. Now if the Rockets does not match, he plays for the Nets. If the Rockets matches, he exercises his "rights" to not show up until the trigger date comes and he became an UFA again. Then he could sign the much less team-friendly Utah deal and force the Rockets to let go. (2) He is banking on the Rockets matching the Nets deal. Then he exercises the "rights" to not show up until the trigger date comes and he became an UFA again. Then he could sign the much less team-friendly Utah deal and force the Rockets to let go. Either way, he was going to screw the Rockets.
I have to say, I like this clever re-wording of the old "I'm rubber, you're glue" rebuttal. Can't wait to see what Bcolic does with "sticks and stones."
Bbhollic is a 45 year old Verj chilling in his moms basement begging for people to believe he is a 45 year old who simply has an earful of material from a rockets employee. Like if I was going to make some **** up on the internet i would say I'm in the ****ing wwe and **** models every night while making 2 billion a year. Obviously dude has some issues so we might as well leave him alone
If the Jazz offered a contract after he had signed an offer sheet, would this be considered tampering?
If his physical is waived, and he's paid $5M...what is keeping him from retiring immediately and then play in Europe?
Except that he will never become an UFA, only RFA and you bet we will hang onto the contract without paying him as long as we can unless there are more under the table deals, this time provided to the Rockets.
Because his agent is likely behind this whole ordeal and the agent makes no money if DMo plays overseas
