I don't blame D-Mo. If I accepted a job offer and then right after another company gives me more money and a better situation I'd be trying to weasel my way out of it too.

Soccer allowing Teams to loan out their players is a horrible system, too. Against the player's rights. That's why the USA will never allow loaning players in any sport.

But i don't understand, why all this should matter if we already matched an offer sheet he signed?

I don't see this coming out as a positive for DMO at all, no matter the resolution. DMO can save a lot of face by firing his agent after this is settled. Just use the agent as a fall boy. It has to happen.

Exactly. I've actually done that before in real life.

Also, people here are questioning why he didn't sign with Utah in the first place. But how could he have done that if that contract hadn't even been available by the time BKN made an offer?!

Everytime I have a physical the Doctor always has to inspect the prostate. DMo may be tired of all these physicals. I don't really look forward to it myself. But I would do it for $5 million.

There's a difference between accepting a job offer and signing a contract. Also, this is a professional sports league where there are a limited number of employees who all have public reputations. So there are repercussions for what D-Mo is doing. He may find himself with no offers anywhere when this is all said and done. I wouldn't be surprised if Utah backs away and rescinds whatever offer they may have been floating to BJ now that it's been exposed that they were potentially tampering with the situation.

That sounds incredibly unprofessional from Utah's part. What are they doing offering a RFA who already signed a offer sheet.

    that or BJ is incompetent

The answer is simple; the contract offer was there, but D-Mo chose a bigger role and more minutes for less money. Now that Houston has matched, D-Mo is looking at a situation where he gets less money and playing time.

Yep, the league won't like this. I'm sure they'll give the Rockets the thumbs up to hold DMO in limbo till March effectively wiping out his NBA season and I hope DMO knows this.

He's not going to win here. He should fire his agent and come here and earn his next contract like every other player in NBA history. If he has a back issue he won't be able to hide that forever.

Obviously he doesn't think he'll pass the physical. That's not a good sign.

So they can't fine him? Or they can only fine him until March? Or what?

I would love to see us waive the physical and then fine him until he decides to play or until his contract is over.

This nothing like that. This is like buying a car, agree to financial terms, sign everything, and you find a better deal somewhere else and refusing to make the car payments.

If DMO had any common sense(something I clearly see he lacks)...He would fire BJ for this ish show...As per reports of a "3rd" team possible offering a larger contract(Utah)...this all was a result of inadequate work by the agent. If there is a larger contract available, and you make your client sign for less...You deserve to be fired.

In regards to situation, I really hope the Rockets mgmt lays down the hammer...

That's why you hire and pay an agent. It was BJ's job to go back to Utah once he had an offer on the table from Brooklyn. Tell the Jazz it's now or never. If they say no, you sign the deal with Brooklyn. If they cave, then you sign with Utah and you avoid this entire debacle.

I'd rather Morey just wait this out until we're past the half way point of the season and then give him to Utah.

Let's see if Utah wants a injury prone player that hasn't played pro basketball in almost a year.
