Hate to see him stay in the AL, but that's the equivalent of Bregman, Martes, and 2 prospects. Glad Houston didn't beat that.

Going to be difficult for me to take the Astros seriously as a real contender if they don't acquire a solid starting pitcher.

It's still early, and there are still a few options out there. Winter Meetings aren't over yet, and by all accounts, Astros are being aggressive. I'm ok with Sale heading to Boston for the price they paid.....if we had given up the equivalent of that, it would have been a tough pill to swallow.

    Price-Sale-Porcello...wow

Looks like we'll need a ton of Brandon Backe playoff performances

White Sox getting: Moncada (1), Kopech (5), Basabe (8), Diaz (28) in Red Sox' system.

Pretty clear correlation to Houston's system: Bregman and Martes plus 2 prospects (we will have to see who the other two prospects are). Moncada is the current #1 prospect in all of baseball, much like Bregman was earlier this year. Kopech is a very high ceiling pitching prospect (55 grade, MLB Top 50), an awful lot like Martes.

Congrats to the White Sox, they set their price at an elite elite player plus more, and Boston caved.

no fire sales going for on in white sox land. that was a steep price to pay for boston. hope the departure of big papi brings them down a little.

I'm surprised BOS caved to that offer. Good deal for the Sox, but prospects are never a sure thing. They'll want to be blowing up that team now I suppose.

If so, I'd hope we at least talk to them about José Quintana. I'd rather have that guy over Archer- the giver of HR's to anyone who asks.
