According to a source "close" ;) with the team, there has been chatter in the locker room about DMo. Mixed feelings, which I get. Fly Ry is getting better...how does he fit?

I'm glad this is being discussed because it is PARAMOUNT in determining the extent to which Dmo can help us this year .

Hopefully before agreeing to match ( if we decide the contract and injury risk is palatable ) there are 2 things that must be done .

    1. Extensive Dmo physical
    2. Dmo meeting with coach and James and other team leaders to determine the game plan for his role on the squad .

Our chemistry is great this year ; coach and James are on the same page and everyone else is giving it great effort and communication . If we want Dmo to help us contend we must first make sure that the chemistry remains great.

Thanks for the info Cod. I'm sure Bobby Brown doesn't want the Rockets to match. :D

At least it's not all negative hahaha.

For sure some players will lose PT and how they respond to that / how they effect the clubhouse chemistry is super important .

It definitely depends on who wants him most . If harden and d'antoni want the guy then it's getting done and those two have to lead and keep people happy . If it's only the coach and the players are happy with the rotation right now then maybe management decides to sit with what we've got atm

Moving Ariza is basically saying bye bye move on out proven durable dependable starter, so we can have the unhealthy undependable guy come in instead, cuz we value his presense more than yours. Why not move Beverley, we have Gordon?

That's not about being cheap, that's where the adjustments start reaching too far, and gets into playing favorites to actual productivity. A rebuilding team like the Nets can do that, the Rockets are trying to win now.

Most people see keeping Ennis over better Prigioni as a WRONG move (They didn't want Ennis's waived salary eating the cap in order to keep the better player) Its asking Rockets to do that same thing AGAIN by prioritizing D-Mo's shaky situation over dependable quality.

If Rockets saw D-Mo as sure-fire better contributor than Ariza, I think they'd have already given him a better contract to reflect that. I AGREE that D-Mo does have 1-2 years window UPSIDE more than the Solomon Hills out there, but I don't think Morey sees internal upside as superior to star acquisition upside

If true, I don't feel that is necessarily bad. Everybody, to a certain degree is hesitant to change. Especially after a successful road trip and things are starting to click. I say.. Let the coaches worry about the problem of adding a proven player to the mix.

Ariza is getting old and eventually Dekker will replace him. Either you trade him when you can still get something of value for him, or you hold on to him for a little bit longer and let him go for nothing. Also, if we're talking about going after a max FA, you'd be talking about not having DMo AND dumping Ariza and Brewer.

IMO teams close around those they've been going 'to war with'. I would guess Ennis or Brown is ta ta'd if/when DMo is matched.

FlyRy has pleasantly surprised me by being tougher and more involved with plays not related to his shooting than I can recall 'from afar'.

DMo would be a positive addition; I suspect/fear that Nene's use-by date is overdue. I like his BBIQ and game, but cannot expect much from him over the course of 3/4 more season + (whatever) 2nd season presents itself.

(Your close source wants to keep all his minutes? :p)

Well D-Mo is coming in 1/4 through the season with no familiarity to current roster AND COACHING, right when they're needing him the LEAST. Its valid mixed feelings

But D-Mo has TENURE over ALL the guys on the team except a couple. He's more ROCKET than they are. D-Mo wanted IN not out. Not gonna make it like he's some team distraction now. But sometimes ships do SAIL on you when you don't board it, and that can be reflected on how Rockets treat this offer - let the ship dock to get him or keep it sailing on.

Just saw DMo at Kata Robata over here on Kirby/Richmond, missed out on asking him if he knew if the rockets were matching. Didn't realize he was in Houston.

Yeah you would have to move some players anyway. I'm thinking the "Not Have D-Mo" part is something Morey can live with.

Personally, I'm fine with Ariza old but I wouldn't mind D-Mo insurance for the Ryno/Nene possible injury breakdowns. I'm not THAT set on Wilter, Harrell, Nanuchinaman to step in.

So THEN- Is the deal killing dead cap money worth that insurance...?? I'd lean Yes more than No because mid season deals are a crap shoot as much as D-Mo's mix of health and skills. But I think Morey leans No (if not a HELL no, which I said about Trump's chances, so....) Morey seems to value 5% chance at star more than 30% at very good.

Serious question. How often have players actually vetoed trades in the past? Wouldn't it create an awkward situation if one knew his team wanted to get rid of him but he chose to stick it to them? I can't see this happening very often

My main concern is chemistry. It has grown and grown in the early going and that has me excited. What's the impact there? I think it would be a positive one after the inevitable rocky start. The contract is terrific if Donata's health is at the 2014-15 level (and can stay there for the next two seasons, a big if to take into consideration), when he shot 37% from 3, hit 50% of his shots overall, moved well without the ball, and played pretty good team defense. Pringles would find a role for him that would have him contributing to wins, in my opinion (yeah, I'm getting some real confidence in the coach - eating a lot of crow this season, so far) I can see Donuts playing very well with Dekker and Gordon off the bench, 3 intelligent players who know what to do on the court.

It all comes down to the health of Donuts and how much Morey values his flexibility this coming off-season.

Of course Nene has mixed feelings, he knows DMo will take some of his minutes.
