[Official] Astros Off-Season Thread

Marisnick is the best defender in the outfield and the best baserunner on the team. Plus he's one of the most liked guys in the clubhouse and that has more value than people realize, gotta keep chemistry and guys who keep everyone loose over a long season.

Both guys are on the team as currently constructed with Teo.

Astros add another left handed bat in the OF, maybe Aoki has too earn a spot in ST or Teo starts in AAA

I'm wondering if Teo and/or Reed would be possible trade chips now for a starting pitcher.

 

Neither is close to being untouchable, so regardless of any signings, they would be in the mix for any trade.

 

Well, I'm just thinking of depth. There really isn't a place for them, so trading out of depth is the way to go.

 

It's not totally out of the question that Reed is the starting 1B on Opening Day.

 

But you also have to find spots for Gurriel, Marwin, Aoki and Jake somewhere.

 

Gattis won't be in the lineup much against RHP. Need the backup catcher to be on the bench and Aoki is a better hitter against RHPs anyways.

This is probably the only time and only context I ever want to see anything Astro compared to anything Cub.

Very true. But I absolutely love the depth of this team.

 

I've been thinking that it's possible Gurriel could potentially be in a deal for pitching for some reason. Not that he would get it done being the main piece.

personally, i don't see how gurriel/reed/martes/ktucker/musgrove package doesn't get sale. doesn't really seem beatable, imo. but some combo of that could at least get an archer.

i think this one year deal all but guarantees we still see EE here.

 

I see Gattis/Beltran alternating LF/DH. Aoki as a regular sub across the OF.
