It would be, but it wouldn't be surprising. Most don't care about the shady behavior if they are on the benefitting side. Just further shows how normal it is for these coaches to do these type of things. The system is just crooked in general.
He's an instant quote for Kirk Bohls to call up, especially after he's gotten into his scotch. As of last June when I was at his ranch Red was very, very complimentary of Charlie. Again, for the Nth time, nobody that matters at UT calls them anymore. If anyone at UT gave a damn about the ravings of Red or other ~90 year old billionaires John Gruden would have been their coach.
He has a point, Buck. Regardless of McComb's lack of influence, UT is in no place to throw stones when it comes to booster behavior.
I know, and you are both absolutely correct. I let my general distaste for anyone who uses twitter to get the best of me.
Seems to me we've moved into the big time if we are getting this kind of quality interviewing for our program. Twice now we've reeled in big fish. I say do it. And let the chips fall where they may. If we want to play with the big boys then we should expect coaching changes like the big boys too. That means hiring and firing when necessary. As long as they bring some recruits that stick it all works out in the end. The buyout will almost always match the market. You can't force someone to be where they don't want to be anyway. But if Kiffin wins a title here, he may want to stay as the program will be rolling. He would have a shot at it next year. We have the talent to run the table.
Agreed, amazing to see how the job has taken on a different type of appeal with Lane and Miles being considered which would have been unthinkable a few years ago. Both have their benefits and risks but it's a clear that no coach will stay more a couple seasons.
If Kiffin was willing to peace out on Tennessee after a single season, he might leave us before our first game.
Please don't start this again. If Kiffin does well here, he is gone almost immediately. I warned you guys that Herman wouldn't stick around very long, but people bought into his bs. Stop getting your hopes up for guys like Herman and Kiffin to stay. Now Miles might stay. That makes sense, but not Kiffin. By the way. Kiffin seems like a jerk. There have to be some good coaches out there that aren't complete jerks.
Kiffin, Briles, Miles to interview (along with Orlando & Applewhite) Briles, who was Houston's head coach from 2003 to 2007 before taking over at Baylor, is receiving "strong interest," a source said. Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley also is a candidate at Houston, but it's unknown whether he will get an interview.
So, I guess she's on board with the Briles idea. Briles is being interviewed and is receiving strong interest according to the ESPN article. http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...es-including-lane-kiffin-les-miles-art-briles
Randy McIlvoy (@RandyMcIlvoy) .@UHCougarFB search ramps up today. Short list not firm. Candidates include Orlando/Applewhite(UH), Riley(OU), Kiffin(Bama), Holgorsen(WVa) along with Miles & Briles possibly. Darkhorses I'm told are Blake Anderson(Arkansas State) & K.C. Keeler (Sam Houston State) Source close to search tells me top donors/supporters met with Yurachek on Thursday to share their ideas on coach candidates.
Think it's like the Rockets interviewing Kenny Smith. We are just doing Briles a favor because he coached for us and started a roadmap. But it can't possibly be serious.
Im a fringe T-shirt Cougars fan, who has taken up interest in them as they got better, so my opinion doesn't matter much. I don't think Kiffin is your guy. I think you either go for broke by going all out for Les Miles, with the idea of him carrying you into one of the power conferences. Or you roll with Major Applewhite, give him his shot, and reap those rewards. Miles is the way to go, though. Houston wants into a better conference. Miles is the man to get you that. Miles with Major at coordinator would be interesting.
