    @Easy @Batman Jones @J Sizzle @DaDakota @Bobbythegreat

Trying to reference posters who said they didn't understand why DMo didn't bet on himself and take the QO. I think this 4 yrs at $9.25m/yr pretty much says DMo didn't want to bet on himself in this huge market next year for a UFA.

If he breaks out, he will be on one of the cheapest PF/C contracts in the NBA for FOUR YEARS.

Horrible deal for him if he breaks out. And great for us if he does, all around. We have to be very happy about this as Rox fans.

What the hell was BJ thinking, unless DMo is actually worried about re-injury, and needed two years of guaranteed money.

Does anyone know if DMo even wants to be back on this team considering all that's went down, such as the failed trade to Detroit and the low (but admittedly fair) offers from the Rockets? Even if we see value in matching, he may not want to play here especially if he's riding the bench behind Anderson and possibly Dekker (I said possibly). I know he ultimately doesn't have the final word, but Morey would probably honor his wishes if he truly did not want to be here.

I think it says that he wants some insurance if he fails. A safety net so to speak. Why play for 4 mil when you could play for 18?

I hope the Rockets will match
If they prefer keeping flexibility, they shouldn't sign Anderson with that stupid contract

oh really? Then which team will take on Brewer for free?
7.5 mil? That's more than a good portion of the league's teams will have next year in capspace.

Maybe, but maybe not, we just don't know at this point...and btw we just traded Lin at 15x (even though he counted like a 8x on the cap) when expiring, i think we can package Brewer and D.Mo together or in different trades since they will be both expirings, maybe there won't be starting sots available, but a 4/5 who can pass, shoot the 3 and play ok defense, at 9x shouldn't be that hard to trade tbh, especially with two non guaranteed years left on the contract.

I would rather they trade Brewer and a pick to a team with cap space if the plan is to spend in FA than to give up a valuable player on a cheap deal. If they land the pipe dream FA, then the pick will be a bad one anyway.

Yeah, definitely that's what it says. He wants insurance more than betting on himself in the huge 2017 UFA market. Head scratcher for how good he was two years ago, unless he has reason to be unsure of his back.

Yeah, I agree, If.....IF those last 2 years are team options, he really is in a risk averse situation. If they are PLAYER option years than it is the opposite.

This looks to me clearly like a take the bird in the hand type of deal.....but 18m guaranteed is better than 8m, and you can live your entire life in luxury with that money in Lithuania...and when this deal is up he will be only 30...so if healthy has another contract in him, or the team could extend him....at any point if he blows up (unlikely).

Exactly what I am thinking. Anyway, what took you so long, BJ?

Got to change the motto now: Yufe Ceen!

Yeah....I think you are playing that up a bit much IMO. When all you have to do to get a pay raise from 4 mil to 18 mil is to stay on vacation a bit longer, why wouldn't you do that? I mean the only thing that matters to a player is guarantees.

Honestly this isn't a good deal for DMo if what's being reported is accurate. 4 years 37 million and only the first 2 years guaranteed. Plus this first year is going to be prorated so essentially he signed a 2 year deal and this year he isn't even getting paid in full because of the holdout. He held out for this?

What? It's $9.5m/yr for FOUR YEARS. If DMo returns to 2015 play, this is a horrible deal for such a PF/C for FOUR YEARS.

This is a great deal for Morey if DMo breaks out.

that makes what? Brewer + DMO? 16 MILLION?

do you know how few teams will be even potential trading partners for us?

That's the big deal imo, if D.Mo's contract hides a high risk of being a wall for us next summer, i don't think Morey will match in the end, there're potentially a lot of interesting players available and in a lot of spots...

One thing it does make him easily tradeable next year......in December.

You're operating under this weird assumption that rosters are going to remain static between now and the offseason.
