Sensitive. He did what coaches do all the time. Coaches tell kids whatever it takes to sell them all the time. Coaches leave for better gigs all the time. Again, that's what happens in big boy football.

Integrity and honesty in NCAA athletics, which revolve around using kids to make money. Funny....

"At least they stay off twitter"? "Stay classy"?

Kind of like Red McCombs telling the media that he didn't think Charlie Strong was a good hire and that he didn't think he'd last that long"? Spewing this right after he was hired.

Is this the kind of "classy" you speak of Buck?

It doesn't look like any of the bowl games, including the NY6, would have been very good for us anyway. Playing Penn St. or Wisconsin again would have been low key and probably low visibility.

The Birmingham Bowl looks to suck vs. Vanderbilt
The Military Bowl vs. Army looks to suck, although I live close enough to go.
The St. Petersburg Bowl vs. Wake Forest would be eh.
The Cure Bowl vs. S. Alabama looks to suck
The Boca Roton Bowl vs. S. Mississippi would be eh.
Miami Beach Bowl vs. C. Michigan would suck.

rootin for us to win, but none of these games strikes me as interesting until kickoff. I hope they get a warm bowl game with lots of sunshine.

I can't speak for Coog fans, but the ones I talk to have no problem with him leaving. Just the way in which he left.

Yes, we all want to advance our careers, but there is such a thing as not burning bridges. Not only did Tom burn bridges, he went with the scorched earth policy on his way out that would have made the Nazis in Russia blush.

"Everybody does it" isn't really an excuse IMO. Everybody does a lot of things, that doesn't automatically absolve them of scummy behavior.

Tom Herman is an exceptional football coach and can run a football program.

I personally think that there is a greater than 50% chance he wins a title at UT in the next 5-6 years.

I do have a problem with Tom Herman being true to his word last year, then this year telling UH that he would stay at UH if they matched the salary offer from UT (if offered) and that he would not discuss other jobs or negotiate during them season. The fact that he used his truthfulness last season to support his truthfulness this season, knowing full well he was lying is a pretty slimy thing to do.

Couple that with repeatedly lying to his players..... then while leaving UH, giving the AD his assurances that he would do what he did at Ohio State and not recruit any players on the UH roster or any of the UH recruits..... and a week later start recruiting UH recruits is a very shitty thing to do.

Couple that with doing things like leaving a UH booster car at the airport, leaving and not paying bills he said he would...... and you have a not so pleasant picture of who Tom Herman really is.

Ultimately if he wins big at UT, it will be tolerated and he will be remembered as a great coach....... if on the off chance he fails, then the way he left UH will probably be remembered and used against Herman in the future.

Are you ready for Lane Kiffin? He is coming to interview this Sunday. He may have past baggage, but his offense is potent. And we should have no problem getting many star recruits.

If UH hires Lane Kiffin, there better not be any complaints about him lying or leaving early.... he has a substantial history of not being honest.

Having said that, he has some SERIOUS upside and the hope is that he is more mature.

He's actually interviewing in some other place called Hosuton. We all just assumed it was here.

Exactly. Now this is something we can agree on.

I said earlier in the thread, that I believe Kiffin would do well at UH. But he is 100% guaranteed to leave if he wins big in the first couple years.

He's not the type who would want to stay at UH.

Agree completely. I don't even care what the buyout is. If Kiffin gets hired and wins he will take the first job opportunity that comes along. He wants a big job and he is deceitful. He's proven to be a good OC but was too young for his last jobs, immature. If he wins at UH he'll be a name tossed around for the next SEC opening and those schools aren't going to care about a $6 million buyout or whatever.

Hell, in 2 years it could easily be LSU looking for a coach again.

I don't mean to pile on just to pile on, but Lane Kiffin is a total lying jerk. UH should pass unless there are no other legit candidates. Based on what's happened at Alabama, it's easy to think he has "upside", but I have serious doubts it would end well here.

Dishonest doesn't even describe what Kiffin did to Tennessee. Leaving after 1 season and a week after his early enrollees moved in, calling and telling them not to go to class so they could get out of their commitment and go to USC, and then leaving behind a slew of recruiting violations on top of that.

It'd be funny watching some of the base greeting a guy like Kiffin with open arms after slamming Herman for the last week. Good hire on paper though, but he'd bolt at first chance.

Buyouts don't matter to schools that would be poaching him anyway.

Tom Herman's buyout could have been $10 million and it wouldn't have impacted UT one bit.

Laugh now, then....because you don't pass up a chance like this. Just the fact that we are in the running, speaks volumes as to where we are now.. He was my #1 guy to replace TH, but I didn't think it would happen.

    Lane Kiffin.......C'mon down!

This would be a fantastic hire....

As to his leaving, you never know how conference shakeups/moves/$$$$ might surprise some folks..

There could very well be much more to this than we are all aware of at the moment.
