On a different forum, a theory was put forward that given all the meetings Trump and Romney have had, that were he the SoS pick, Trump would have announced it already. He is scheduling a meeting to talk about how he is going to extricate himself from his business. The grassy knoll theory is then that Romney is going to be in charge of the trust that will run Trump's business. I think there could well be something to that. Given their history, its not like Romney could be painted as a Trump stooge, and he clearly is quite capable of running the business well.
Trump is considering Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) as energy secretary. This is a nobrainer for Trump and the entire Republucan party, if Manchin will take the job. He could certainly do more for the people in that role than he can as Senayor, or as the governor of West Virginia. Trump would of course get credit for having a bipartisan cabinet and then a Republican will be elected to replace Manchin as Senator, bringing the Republican total in the senate up to 53. If Trump pulls this off, even his most hardened critics that retain even the tiniest shread of integrity will have to tip their hats to Trump in recognition of such a major coup.
Based on what? Global demand for coal is slowing down and predicted to lose ground to other forms of energy? Coal has lost to natural gas and renewable energy. Why is this a hat tip moment? Seems like he's throwing a bone to coal country while natural gas is at rock bottom processes.
The part where he ripped her ties to Wall St and may now put a man in charge that is the thing he railed against. It's hilarious he choose a Goldman Sachs guys of all people.
Trump taps General James Mattis as Secretary of Defense. As far as I could tell, he was the only person seriously being considered. He strike me as a bit of a General Patton type. He didn't get along with the poser we currently have in the oval office, so he quit. He sounds like a pretty good choice to me.
Hahahaha. Good one! It's quite amazing how much ordinances have been dropped under the Obama Administration. Perhaps it's time for more boots on the ground! That's been working!
We can't keep kicking over ant piles and be surprised by the results. It's not that I think he's a bad pick, i just worry his mindset will keep us entangled in the Middle East for longer

Picking a fight at the drop of the hat might be good for a bouncer, but makes for a terrible nightclub manager.
Well, politics of division typically lead to politics of irrationality. We're in the irrationality phase now, hope it works out for us but not holding my breath. Maybe the dems be less divisive next time and put forward a real candidate. In the meantime, we get what we deserve. Smoke on.
Trump is putting together a cabinet for the ages. So far, this is a neocon wet-dream cabinet. That Trump populism didn't last long.
Trump could have done worse for his Secretary of Defense. I'm more concerned about his other announced cabinet picks. His supporters should be raising hell about being a stabbed in the back.
Because his top priority is not going to be making sure that transsexuals in transition are being properly accommodated and that every effort is being made to increase the number of women in the Navy Seals and other special forces units, just to give a few examples.
