The only way this would be worth it for D-Mo is if he gets at least 10M as he will then at least break even for lost time and not be traded this season. If he gets anything less, he loses money.
Brooklyn has a ton of cap space. I agree with the people who disagreed with my earlier post lol. There's a good chance Brooklyn throws some zany numbers at him.
I thought the contract was over 7 and closer to 8. Basically it's simple math. Players don't get paid as a lump sum, they get paychecks. D-Mo has missed currently 22% of the season already plus training camp and pre-season. Depending on how long it takes for them to hash out an offer D-Mo is willing to sign plus the 72 hours we have to match, he figures to miss about 25% of the season when everything is said and done. If his contract is for 10M a year, he's really going to making around 75% of that for this year, meaning about $7.5 million before taxes, agent fees, ect.
We drafted the guy in 2011 and played him several years. You want him his entire career? The first several years have been injury plagued. Rocket fans should be hesitant of signing injury plagued players to long term contracts.
You mean a two year deal with 10-12 guaranteed this season and second season non-guaranteed? Absolutely.
Yeah, we'll see what happens, it's hard to say anything for sure till we see the offer that the Nets give him. It really could be just about anything at this point, but I think we can assume that it will be better than what he was offered by the Rockets.
What do you mean by 'the first several years have been injury plagued'? That sentence is completely false. Are you just making **** up to further your silly narrative? After he was drafted by the Rockets, he spent a year playing in Europe (not injured). Then he came to the NBA and spent his first 2 seasons either in D-League or warming Rockets' bench (again not because of an injury). Then he had a 71-game season where he was arguably Houston's 3rd most important player after Harden and Howard. He only got injured right before the playoffs and most of his rehabilitation was during the offseason. He came back the following season and played 37 games, where his offensive game was quite rusty, but he had a -6.0% DFG% differential which indicates a very good defensive performance (Draymond Green is currently sporting a -6.2% differential).
I would think that they won't offer him a 3/4 year deal if not pretty cheap, can't wait to see what he'll sign anyway.
Please offer the contract today so that we know what it is and if the Rockets are gonna match. Either way, prepare for DMo threads to dominate the board for the foreseeable season. Either he will be on the Rockets or not, and it will be discussed forever at least for the rest of this season...from both points of view, and those in between. I love CLUTCHFANS!
Agreed that's why I'm hesitant about the Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon signings. As to DMo, he had one injury, the same injury Dekker had.
